Do you ever gently place your car door onto the car door next to you to took it from slamming?

Yes, for sure. I also find some parking spaces are ridiculously narrow, too.

This isn't a parking space problem. Your car is too big, or it's user error.

I'm somewhat anal about parking well, but it's super rude to let your car door hit another. If you want to send a crappy parker a message, pull in their mirror and/or pull up their windshield wipers. No need to ding someone.

OP isn’t advocating to ding someone’s car.

No, but other people in this thread are.

Great - then direct your comment to those who advocated for that. Not the person who doesn’t ding cars.

Thank you. PP is clearly looking to bicker. That’s why I ignored.

But I am husky and sometimes there just isn’t room without stuffing that girth hard as possible against the door. Ever seen an octopus squeeze through like a 2-inch pipe or whatever? That’s me at the Safeway.

It’s always hard to tell of posters like that don’t understand the internet or are a pigeon just flying in to crap everywhere and fly back out.

Doesn’t that wreck the edge of your door in the process?

Pigeon. Definitely.

No, I’m not an a$$hole. If someone parks to close, I’ll put my hand between the door and the car so my kids can get out.

No, not really. If you smash a metal edge into a flat panel surface the edge is getting the best of that exchange 10 times out of 10. Also any incidental nicks on the edge of the door are going to be more or less unseen whenever the door is closed.

I’d suggest you try to park next to thin people: Audi, Subaru, Prius, sporty little Mazda SUV. Cars like that.

Yes, this is what I do.

Yes, but some people intentionally park uncentered, and I mean the ones who park as far as possible to the passenger side. Probably they do it to gain more space on their driver's side, but it squeezes the next car over. It shows disregard for others, so I find it difficult to be courteous in return.

Yup, I put my hand on the edge so they don’t touch. I drive a minivan so the back doors aren’t a problem.

Does anyone ever get pissed at you for doing that? 🤣🤣

Why would they? I'm taking two spaces a hundred miles from the store entrance -- there are about 300 better spaces to choose from.

No, I keep my hand between my car door and the other car so that my hand is the barrier.

Also, if I feel the space is too tight then I don't park there. I'd rather walk the additional 50 feet and park in a different spot. Not because I don't trust myself, it's other people I don't trust.

Yes, I do.
