She was team whatever, but she loathes my ex now: she’s seen how manipulative and unstable he is. She liked him a lot when we were married (he’s very charming, on a superficial level, and handsome, which is why it was so difficult for me to get people to believe and support me when I left.)

Probably. It was a devastating moment - June of 2016, ugh. This was also the time I confronted my dad about his sexual abuse and was then cut off completely from his entire family. Pretty deep betrayal all around.

Why don’t you ever bump your old threads with your updates? I just looked a the slew of threads posted by someone. Lots of posters tied your story together. Would be easier to keep the message together instead of re-explaining each time. Or frustrating people who tried to provide advice and it came across as you ignore all prior feedback.

I started therapy two months before I left my ex-husband. I made poor life choices due to C-PTSD from being physically, emotionally, and sexually abused as a child. I was retraumatized in my previous marriage to an emotionally and financially abusive spouse who also cheated on me. Despite my many struggles after leaving my ex, it was a period of tremendous growth and I learned many positive habits to create a functional and happy life for myself and my kids. I’ve since married a man who treats me like gold. And I’m still in therapy!
