But first I would quit. Same day.

Of course I totally forgot to buy a ticket.

you can still buy online!

By a new hybrid minivan since mine died last month.

Fully fund college and grad school for my kids and my nieces.

Get a second dog so my sweet boy can have a partner in crime.

Hire someone to help my dad care for his house (lawn, cook, clean, house repairs)

Establish a trust for my siblings and my direct descendants.

Help our community build a new center.

Establish a scholarship fund in my mom's name at the local community college to help less fortunate with tuition.

Establish a needs based scholarship fund at my alma mater and my husband's alma mater for low income students.

Buy my husband a small place in Maui so he can get away on much needed breaks. He dreams of this and it would be awesome to make it happen.

Of course invest in a manner that allows future generations the freedom to follow their passions instead of getting stuck in a career because it pays well.

I am amused by the idea of not quitting work straight away. I have just won $890 million. Why would I spend another minute in that place? I can think of any number of places that are better than an office. A waterfall, for example. A beach. A penthouse apartment in NYC…

You go to your states lottery site. You must use location service to prove you’re in the state.

Get my car fixed
Go to the doctor
Have a secure roof over my head that won't change in a year
Pay off my CC
Pay off my car loan
Go the dentist (haven't been in several years)

The rest to family, friends and charity

Buy a yacht with 500 whores on it

Hire a team of lawyers to manage my wealth and be trusted advisors.

I’ll remain anonymous. Wouldn’t do anything showy or make elaborate purchases.

Get daily massages and blow outs and manicure/pedicures at my house. I’ll need to be relaxed.

I love my job and don’t do it for the money; I’d probably confess my new found wealth to my boss and small team of colleagues and see about working or consulting behind the scenes. I’d turn over my paycheck to a social services charity I’ve always supported.

DH and I will take out time to purchase vacation homes; one lakeside and another in a ski resort. Oh - and cars that would stay on property.

Quit job. Move somewhere saner than the us. Maybe Copenhagen (and a summer place) give money to planned parenthood and pro democracy groups and find a couple endowments and scholarships..’
Buy a few pieces of art. Read travel personal trainer and send my kids to good schools. Do the sailing trip dh dreams of.

I’d finally renovate my kitchen and add a screen porch where my deck currently is ( assuming I’m the only winner; DCUM conventional wisdom is that adding a screen porch would be more than a $440 million winner could afford).
I’ve always thought I would split a lottery win 3 ways: 1/3 to protect me and my immediate family’s long term financial security, 1/3 to family and friends — give a bunch of people $1-$2 million dollars, set up college trusts for the kids of everyone I know, etc, and 1/3 to charity. I would use the Mackenzie Bezos model— give it out now, rather than setting up a foundation to give it away slowly.

I thought the advice was to always take the lump sum?
