Keep in mind Bowser's child goes to Shepherd.

I’m confused. A news shepherd AP was never announced.

What rock are you living under???

DCPS cannot get quality candidates into the school system. This is why they do a lot of shuffling and jiggling moving people around which is terrible for the stability of a school.

Do...you not understand sarcasm?

I don’t get the sense Bowser goes to bat for Shepherd. But I suppose I could be wrong… This is really disappointing news.

Pure conjecture.

Quite the contrary. Parents have all the power. Schools with the highest social capital can exercise their will more readily.

How is Shepard doing in general? Are teachers leaving? Is the parent involvement strong?

Some spots just opened up and we are weighing if we go or not. We like our IB, but Shepherd was out number 1. Concerned about the transitions and the new interim is from a charter. Can any parents provide insight?

New interim is from Savoy. Not a charter. I have heard great things about her from people that know her. Shepherd always seems to luck out with leader IMO. I’m impressed with the emails we’ve received so far from principal. She said class assignments would be coming out next week which is 2 weeks before I expected them. Also ice cream with principal set up already.

You need to stop sharing where the children of public figures attend school.

This is extremely well known and has been covered fairly extensively in the media (including, e.g., the Washington Post).

People are just spreading rumors on these threads. There is no new AP who quit. Old AP decided not to come back a very long time ago, he wasn't new and he wasn't great. New Principal seems great so far.

Wanted to echo - that I've been very impressed with the new principal. She's been great about communication and trying to connect with the community.

I like the new interim so far. I was concerned about the vacancies at the beginning of the year; however, this is an issue across the district (in both public and private-- the struggle for vacancies).

What’s going on with shepherd aftercare?

Pretty jacked up. They essentially announced, one week before school, the before-care and aftercare is canceled b/c the director no longer works there. Parents are scrambling their tails off now trying to get kids in aftercare that's full around the city. It was run by a separate shepherd nonprofit entity. The board sent out one alternative that has pretty good reviews for their summer program. Just a bad situation all around.
