Would you pay your friend back for masks?

Anonymous

All of the libraries in MD have been giving away packs of 5 masks & 4 tests for free to every person that asks for months now.
In fact, most locations have them out on a table, so you don't even have to ask, you just walk in & grab the pre-packed brown bag off the table and go.

Each person is eligable to pick them up once a day, but nobody is checking if someone goes to multiple libraries in one day or takes more than they're supposed to.

Would it be weird to say that you were just paying as a token of your appreciation? I may be overthinking this.

Normal circumstances I would absolutely never have insisted on paying if they rejected the first offer. You are friends after all. But since you kept on insisting then you do need to pay.

Just send them through Venmo regardless of how many days of past. It’s weird that you insisted.

No I would not.

Also etiquette states that if you offer money and they say no, you may offer again, but you never offer more than 2 times.

Oh let me pay you for that
No, don’t worry about it
No really here.
Don’t be silly it’s just masks.
Thank you.

so if a friend gave me a couple of silk masks, and refused payment, I would be grateful and find another way to repay the generosity--send them a little gift or somehting, but not in a keeping tabs way. If a friend gave me a 3 dollar mask? I wouldn't worry about it, nor would I worry about giving friends a BOX of masks. I mean...friends do that stuff!!!

This... and they're the KN95 masks, not surgical ones.
