thoughts ob Leslie Evers dress?

I love it. It is a big change from a standard navy suit, though. But maybe that's good! There's nothing wrong with being more casual in a nice dress in an August conference in a vacation spot.

That said, I do wonder if you might feel more comfortable speaking in something that was more in between a power look of a suit and a fun dress - saving this for the opening reception or another day or something.

But I LOVE it and think it would look great on someone tall.

Love it! I'd never heard of this brand, and now I want to buy all of the dresses. Go for it, OP.

I have to speak at a conference in a vacation area in August and I recently saw a vide of myself in a boring navy suit and want to mix it up.

I am 5'10 and I feel like this dress could add some fun? Or is it too crazy?

I honestly love it, but don't think it's right for speaking at a conference. I'd wear it out to dinner while at the conference.

I think you could dress it up a bit and it will be lovely.

I'd look for tropical colors in a dressier style and fabric.
This is similar, but has a more structured, business-like vibe: https://toririchard.com/products/a-maze-anita-mid-length-dress?variant=41155420782768

The Tori Richard dress is similar in color and print, but the fit is different from the Lesley Evers dress-- high neckline sheath v. v-neck fit and flare. Also, the rayon/nylon/spandex fabric of the Tori Richard dress is going to give it a different vibe from the Lesley Evers dress, which is cotton/linen. To me, the large print looks better on the Lesley Evers dress -- it's a casual style, yes, but that's probably more suitable and flattering to a clingy style and material. My vote is for Lesley Evers with a statement necklace (maybe seed pearls), simple stud earrings or small-ish hoops, and simple glasses, if needed. Shoes should be more on the sensible than sexy side for a conference.

+1 This dress looks more appropriate for a speaker than the other dress.

I used to work in library/information services and knew a lot of professional women who dressed like this. I think it’s because it’s a women-dominated profession. It would be very normal to go to a conference, especially at a resort, and see both speakers and attendees dressed like this. My impression is that K-12 education is similar (not just teachers but people who work in administration or run businesses that sell to schools). There is just less pressure to dress “like a man” in order to be taken seriously when most of the most successful people in the room are women.

Now I work for a legal vendor and this would be seen as somewhat transgressive, especially in any setting where there will be people from the firms we work with. I still go for bold jewelry and will often choose a bright color accent, but this dress would be considered too casual for most of the people I work with.

That's a great observation. I was speaking at a big conference last week in a female-dominated industry and people wore whatever the heck they wanted (lots of jeans, lots of retro dresses, lots of everything except navy suits).

I think if you feel good in this dress, and you work in a field/position that can accommodate bold prints, you should wear it. I love the print.

That one looks less business-like to me!

I really like it, but not while speaking.

And I am also tall and I think the waist would hit too high and it would look off.
