| The apologists on this board are something. She is part of why the Council has become such a damn joke. |

The New York law was recently ruled unconstitutional as should any action to permit non-citizens to vote in DC.
As far as statehood is concerned this makes it politically unpopular for many democrats who claim to support it. Fast track citizenship but any action to permit noncitizens to vote is wrong and further destroys “Chocolate City.” |
DC would become “woke national laughingstock city.” Speaking of national laughingstocks, Marion Barry (and demographic change) ended Chocolate City years ago. |
I think there is a certain amount of hypocrisy in claiming that DC should not have taxation without representation while simultaneously saying that tax-paying residents of DC don't deserve voting rights. Where are the Democrats who now support statehood but won't if non-citizens vote in local elections? Is there a list of them someplace or are you just assuming such people exist? |

1. Read the tea leaves. Nationally members of congress won’t risk their seats for DC Statehood.
2. Pushing DC further to the left makes us an anathema to the national party. 3. So, vote with Md. or return to Md. but statehood will never occur. |
Retrocession is such a ridiculous argument. DC separated from Maryland in 1790, before most of the rest of the country existed. We should sooner argue for the Dakotas to be united. This is all just part of the GOP wanting to retain their unfair and unrepresentative majority in the Senate. |
| DC didn’t separate from Md. DC was created by an act of congress that took land from Md. and Va. The land taken from Va. was returned. There’s your precedent. |
| Maryland does not want you! |
Ah but the Dakotas are states. The DC statehood advocates can bang all they want on their little plastic drums (the kind street urchins played outside of Metro stations) but statehood recedes ever more each year as an attainable goal. Want representation in Congress? Retrocession may be a long shot but it’s a heckuva lot more real than DC statehood. |
| Anywho, Nadeau hasn’t cracked 50% support campaigning against candidates that shouldn’t be on the student council. Crime is ridiculous is Ward 1 and she refuses to do anything that has any impact. All of her supposed fixes are a waste of money and time. |
| By every measure life in Ward 1 has gotten worse. |
Maryland does NOT want DC, that's the problem. If DC were to become apart of Maryland, not only will there never be another Republican governor of the state (something the MD GOP would absolutely hate) but the balance of power would shift from Baltimore to DC and that creates its own set of issues. Retrocession is not happening, give it up. |
|
The best part about Ward 1 is that you’re now able to purchase products you’d normally buy at CVS from street vendors. Who saw that coming?
Thank you Brianne! |
| Thankfully those arriving from the border know to head to 14 & U. The next four years are going to exciting. |

Someone needs to start a write-in campaign against Nadeau. She is awful.
Elissa Silverman is another awful one. The DC council is being taken over by progressives who are guided by ideological but not realistic goals. They don't understand that their progressive actions are going to make the city unsafe and just not a nice place to live.
