Anyone else disgusted by flip-flops in public? The mere sound of them makes me uneasy

I don’t understand how you can be so shameless and low class that you would wear these disgusting things in public letting all the dirt and germs go all over your feet and toes. Not to mention nobody wants to see your feet. The beach, I get it. But in public, during the week, walking around dirty streets, running errands, on an airplane, and out to eat — nasty as hell.

Any time I see open-toed shoes, I just think how disgusting those feet must be. Why can we just wear boots all the time? /s

Haven’t seen anyone wearing pajamas in public in at least a decade. What kind of neighborhoods are you spending time in?

DP. I see them at my local Safeway getting coffee. It's rare and usually on weekends.

I see high schoolers and grown men wearing fleece pajama pants to grab coffee or grocery shop in Bethesda.

Do you hav3 the same problem with sandals?

Higher-end sandals which secure the foot aren’t as trashy. A $5 pair of flip-flops in the city is like walking around barefoot. It’s just so gross. I’m addition, trashy and shameless. Like you’ve just given up, if you ever had any shame in the first place.

How does a higher-end sandal repel dirt and germs?

OP and the germaphobes just need to stay home. It's summer in DC. People can wear whatever shoe provides them some relief from the heat.

I hate hot feet. Flipflops are a fine casual summer shoe.

I don’t normally notice people out and about wearing flip-flops. The only time I wear flip-flops in public is right after I’ve had a pedicure. As I wear flip-flops from the salon to my car and then drive home. Or, if I need to run a quick errand, I might still be wearing my flip-flops. But it’s really just while I’m getting my toes completely dry from my pedicure

Agree. There is nothing disgusting about flip-flops in public, assuming feet are well groomed.

Maybe <1% have well groomed feet. People who do flip flops I’m the city during the week are typically low class, thus nasty feet.

I hate them but I especially hate the super cheap, super thin ones. Something about them especially skeeves me out.

It doesn’t really matter how well groomed the feet are, they are going to quickly become disgusting walking around a city in flip-flops. In addition, it’s just low class. Akin to men wearing a “wife beater” tank top out and about. It’s just not something an adult with any class should do. Again, unless you’re walking to and from the beach or just got a pedi, of course.

Count me as low-class then! I am all about convenience in the summer. Plus, my flip flops are cute. And I keep my toes manicured.

Sorry, not sorry, OP!

What’s next? “Why do men wear shorts/swim trunks in the summer in a pool? Can’t they wear jeans or khakis?”

There is a very judgmental poster here who cannot seem to distinguish between “in” and “I’m”. Embarrassingly low class.

+1. Tired of the classist bs on this site.
Not to mention some posts are downright men-hating posts. Let them show their feet. why are you looking at their feet anyway? Bet you got caught looking at their crotch and tried to look away...
