Anyone else disgusted by flip-flops in public? The mere sound of them makes me uneasy

Anonymous
I never think about it and it doesn’t bother me. I also don’t see it as low class to wear sandals

Stay away from Hawaii OP.

You can feel grossed out by yourself wearing flip flops, but to have this level of over-the-top reaction to some rando wearing them seems more along the lines of a mental illness.

The sound doesn't bother me, but they are trashy AF. Just another way americans don't even bother to get dressed to leave the house. pajamas and flip flops all the way, it's gross.

If you're this grossed out by Americans maybe you should leave.

I don’t understand how you can be so shameless and low class that you would wear these disgusting things in public letting all the dirt and germs go all over your feet and toes. Not to mention nobody wants to see your feet. The beach, I get it. But in public, during the week, walking around dirty streets, running errands, on an airplane, and out to eat — nasty as hell.

Do you hav3 the same problem with sandals?

np I don’t think of them as inherently trashy. I grew up and live in CA and dresses with sandals are everywhere, among all classes and even as part of a polished summer look.

It's honestly a toss-up as to which one of you provided a more original and never-seen-before response.

Haven’t seen anyone wearing pajamas in public in at least a decade. What kind of neighborhoods are you spending time in?

+1. And Southern California. I’m wearing a pair as we type.

+1. Slobs. During the week, like how shameless and gross can you be. You’re not some teen sorority girl going from bed to a 9am lecture. Gross a** adults!

Higher-end sandals which secure the foot aren’t as trashy. A $5 pair of flip-flops in the city is like walking around barefoot. It’s just so gross. I’m addition, trashy and shameless. Like you’ve just given up, if you ever had any shame in the first place.

NP. Ok but like…they’re still *kind of* trashy? What percentage of trashy and/or shameless are expensive sandals that secure the foot?

Agree. There is nothing disgusting about flip-flops in public, assuming feet are well groomed.
