Elon isn't in VA you moron, GTFOH. |
Indeed, bet the mantra is all of their kids are headed to HYPSM...good for them if it works out. |
She likes the look of the school. That campus is clean, buildings are well kept and while not new are modern looking. She likes that it’s similar to a suburban location like we live around with retail, activities, near a main road, relatively safe and quiet. Didn’t want rural or city. |
Elon is not in Virginia. DUR |
Actually, no, I've seen four kids off to college already. |
That and it's a private school. What an idiot. |
No, the mantra is tier one VA state colleges for us. |
So you have put 4 kids through college? Are they all tier 1 attendees? Good for them if so. |
Yes, they are all in the tier one that I listed. |
Those aren't all tier 1 but go ahead and make yourself feel better. Tier 1 in VA is UVA, W & M and VATech Engineering. |

Our ranking went like this
UVA, W&M, UMD - beyond reach, didn't even look at them Tech - reach school, waitlisted JMU, CNU - applied and got in both EA UMW, VCU, Longwood, ODU - safeties, didn't apply CNU advantages - Homecoming is fun, some Greek life but not huge presence, football games are well attended, parties but not a huge party school D3 athletics but they do well in their conference, club sports are available for regular athletics and were compared to current HS teams Small but not too small campus means you get to know most kids, and classes are mostly pretty small, teachers are approachable, 100% residential through Junior Year, pretty campus, liberal arts core good for undecided, has an arts presence and business school on campus |

There is a bizarrely aggressive CNU basher on this board. I suspect her child did not get in.
OP: It's a gorgeous campus and a great school with lots of spirit. I know several kids who have gone and loved it. Visit on a football game weekend this fall to get a better sense of what it's like. |
I had two go to UVA, one to William & Mary, and one to VCU for art. That's tier one enough for me. |
