Capital Lacrosse Tryouts

Katie just hired a full time recruiting director I am assuming to try to stem the tidal wave of girls jumping to Capital. Not certain if it will help. That being said she I assume she will have 3 26 teams next year so from a monetary point of view things are good.

“Katie” has twice before hired full-time recruiting directors and Pride players still didn’t get recruited or did but to complete no-name programs/colleges. If you think this new Pride hire is going to magically turn things around at Pride I have a bridge to sell you…

27 Capital will be different than year's past mainly because BLC has 11-13 girls who would likely make it if they tryout. Very different dynamic than in year's past.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

You have been posting about this supposedly great BLC team for ages. Well the ‘26 Stars and ‘26 Pride teams are incredibly good and ranked nationally. Those girls are far more likely to make Capital than someone from BLC. Any girl that good should have switched programs last year. Capital is not going to take half their blue treat from BLC.

No dog in the fight but I concur that BLC 27 team has more players who could make capital than other years. 2026 has no relation to 2027 and the 27 BLC team is an anomaly compared to older years (don’t know enough about younger years to comment).

The BLC 27 as you say is an anomaly. The rest of their teams are not good and far from competitive.

As for 27 Capital, I'd lock in odds right now that probably no more than 5 girls from the current Stars 27 team make Capital Blue. Not sure where they will all come from but the Stars dynamic is drastically changing.

BLC 27s beats M&D Black two weekends ago. Pride, Stars and NL have all lost to them by double digits.

This. Two big X factors for Capital 27 will be

1) Will the top BLC players try out for Capital? 2 of their top players have sisters at Skywalkers
2) Will any CavLax players tryout? If you include greater virginia, CavLax is the clear #3 team and have 5-7 players who would easily make the team. If parents are willing to drive for Sunday practices, this will make the team even more competitive

Can you clarify who CavLax is? Is that the Cavalier club in Leesburg that just got bought by Pride? Cavalier 27 is winless in NGLL and has lost to both pride and stars, so if that is the same team, I doubt there are 5-7 girls good enough to make capital.

2 totally different clubs. Cavlax is out of Charlottesville area and has a history of putting girls on Capital Blue and ultimately D1 spots. Cavalier is a money grab for those who want to pay more than rec for rec level lacrosse.

OP, just be aware that if your daughter makes Capital, especially the A team, the politics only increase. Been there, experienced that.

Former Capital parent here. From our experience, Capital was much less political than other top clubs. Every girl gets a good amount of playing time every game. (Not quite equal, but pretty close). Most top clubs can't say that. A couple years ago, they stopped taking out of area players which has seemed to help.

Depends on what you define as "out of the area". Capital does take kids from Charlottesville, Richmond, etc... I guess if the parents are willing to drive and attend all events, so be it. Just dont get on the bad side of the recruiting coordinator, if you do, game over.

This 110%. Very thin skinned; God forbid you dare to even politely disagree with her.

Out of state player like from California, Texas or Minnesota. The types of girls the Big Maryland programs bring in who rarely attend a practice with the team and only attend tourneys.

What would the disagreement be over? Whoch schools she thinks she can get you in to?
