"We do recognize students as Valedictorians, these are students who have achieved the highest Academic Achievements possible. Valedictorians for the Quince Orchard High School Class of 2024 and beyond will be selected using the following criteria:

-Students must earn a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA for each Marking Period of their high school career within Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).
-Summer school classes taken after completing 8th grade are included and the student must earn an A in any and all summer school classes taken through MCPS.
-Online classes taken after completing 8th grade would be included and the student must earn an A in any and all online classes taken through MCPS.
-A grade of "Outstanding" must be earned for any periods in which the student has a "Student Aide Period" where grades are not assigned.
-Students who participate in the Montgomery College Early College Program and/or have partial schedule to take a class or classes at the College or University level must a grade of a B or higher in that class or those courses."

Last year there was over a 100 Valedictorians and I am sure this year will be the same.

These numbers are all wrong - Qo parent here. This year there are 53ish valedictorians and last year was a similar number. There are not 100, not even close

It’s still ridiculous. The valedictorian is the top student in the school. Not the top 53. Top 53 is the honor society, not valedictorians. It makes the honor meaningless. Although I guess they can always tell their kids they were valedictorian and it would be technically true

53 Valedictorians is still ridiculous. It should be 1 or 2 maybe even 3 a most but 53 is crazy.

It's really great to see how well these students are doing compared to the past. MCPS is really doing a magnificent job if that many kids can get a 4.0!

MCPS parents are already putting crazy pressure on Larla and her teachers. I can just imagine what they'd do to get one of those 1 or 2 maybe even 3 spots.

There are 2 reasons for this: kids today seem a lot brighter than 20 years ago and the high-quality teaching has to do with this too.
