Only .4% students tested positive after spring break.

Lucky you... there is a good chance your kids will catch it in school.

And? They will be just fine. You do know that by sending them to school you’re risking them catching Covid? That’s a risk I’m willing to take.

Well if the home tests aren’t accurate why test at all?

They generally are if you are symptomatic. Not so much if asymptomatic.

Which is why the whole thing is ridiculous and a waste of time/money/energy. No good reason to teat asymptomatic kids.

Asymptomatic kids have covid. Asymptomatic kids can spread covid. Its not a waste of time and money.

Especially with free tests.

Free to you. Not free to the government or school.

This! Nothing is ‘free’.

All of us taxpayers are paying for these tests. Not to mention the amount of waste produced by unnecessary testing. Not very environmentally friendly, for sure.

That is the least of what your concerns should be.

Paying for things? That should be ALL of our concerns. Especially when it is wasteful spending.

Asymptomatic people have Covid. Asymptomatic dental hygienists can have Covid. Asymptomatic public bus drivers can have Covid. We’re not just randomly testing adults. Why target kids to asymptomatic testing? Especially when kids are so low risk.

No logic behind it. No foot reason for MCPS to ask kids to test when they have no symptoms.

You are right. We should require all these folks to test regularly too.

So you want every single person who works outside of the home to be tested weekly? Good luck with that!

Unlikely that ever happens, so that juts highlights the fact of how useless testing MCPS students actually is.

Your solution to an expensive, largely useless government program is to do an even more expensive, largely useless government program? I bet you're in politics.

1. WE don't know how many actually tested
2. If you were infected with COVID before, you can get reinfected.

How many parents just kept their + kids home w/o saying anything? Or just sent them in anyway?

OP would fail epidemiology

Yes, it’s called being an adult.

Of all the wasteful spending this is not one.

"Between the pairs of MRIs, which were separated by an average of about three years, the researchers observed a striking trend among those who had Covid: a greater loss of what’s known as gray matter in the brain, as well as a higher rate of abnormalities in the brain tissue."

Then stay home and keep your kid home. Your choice.

If you are concerned, you should continue to choose Virtual School for your child.

You cannot control other people. You can only control your own behavior. Do what works for you and quit worrying about everyone else.

I don’t know anyone who got Covid.
My three kids have been in school, my two older kids spring break, keg parties, working in malls and childcare.

Look I am vaxed and all five of us booster shots. Heck I stayed at hotels in 2020. Went to weddings in 2021.

Is it even real? Let’s move on. Like bell bottom jeans and lava lamps this is over.

I cannot believe you don't know anyone when we know multiple people who have it right now. Yes, its real.

I thought like the pp and now I just found out I have covid. I am a teacher and 4 staff members were out with covid this week. A few coughs and sneezes were spreading through my room but nobody only 3 kids actually took the test. I only wore a mask when in guided reading groups stupidly. Now, I have covid and I am willing to bet these sneeze and coughing children do too. I do not care if I have covid. People get sick. I get it. But, I hate having to be absent for a week and I hate possibly exposing my SMACS kid to covid as she has an intense academic schedule to adhere to. It is what it is.
