That was me, I did not get Upton. Then I bid on Huntington and found out today I did not get that one either.
Nothing else is on deck. Guess we will wait to see what comes on the market after Easter. |
I think Jeff thankfully deleted the posts from the very aggressive poster that made others feel uncomfortable. |
| I think the house is lovely and for what you get, I think the pricing seems reasonable. The only think that struck me was that the kitchen sink seems so small. Is it just an optical illusion? To me it looks barely larger than the kind of small sink you might install with a basement bar. |
| I think for the right family, this location is worth an extra $200-300K over an average North Cleveland Park location. It is one of a handful of houses that sit like officer’s quarters commanding Hearst Park in all directions, while simultaneously sitting apart from vehicular traffic. If you’re not the type to raise free-ranging kids, then maybe it’s not for you. Also, the walk-out bottom level to me is worth a ton vs. a house that has a normal basement, but I guess not everyone values that. |
It’s rough out there - good luck! |
That’s the second sink. The main sink faced the front of the house and wasn’t photographed well. |
| Wow! $2.8M+ and no master bath? Odd to have 4 bedrooms up and only 2 small jack & jill bathrooms. Maybe new owners plan to live in basement bedroom, which does have ensuite bath? |
Probably converting the attic to a master bed/bath for extra privacy. |
I'm the $2.8 cap poster who also lost on this house. We were planning on extending the smaller bath with the square tub into the smaller bedroom/office to make a primary bath. It made sense at a lower price point, but not for what the house ended up going for. |
| PP here: another plus is that the effective lot size is wildly understated, since the huge area between the street and the front door is not included. |
There’s no sidewalk, instead a strip of grass. A benefit of that is that the strip of grass becomes part of your front lawn. The downside, I guess, is that there’s no clear demarcation between your front yard and any pedestrian passage. I’m assuming there’s little pedestrian passage? I’m guessing people who come to use the public pool wouldn’t be parking on Idaho Avenue? Several years ago, we looked at a house nearby. One thing that concerned me was the state of the edge of the field across the street. It was really overgrown. Public land, so I guess the city is supposed to maintain, but I can’t imagine the edge of a field would be a priority. I’m not very fussy, but I did notice that. Maybe that situation has improved. |

Wowza. I know zillow estimates are of limited utility, but just for kicks, right now the estimate is $2.25. |
| Such an insane price. |
