You should read it! It truly feels very VERY similar to Klara. |
NP. Good plan! This takes me back to when I took Latin and Ancient Greek in high school and my classics teacher told us that those epic poems are repetitive because people used to fall asleep during them and they needed to be reminded of what’s going on. He also talked to us about the similarities between epics and hip hop. Dr. Pottle was an awesome teacher.
|
| One more random thing: Dr. Pottle used to have us say with him, “A gerundive is an adjective, a gerund is a noun” over and over. To this day—17 years after I graduated high school—I still remember it! |
Packing this for vacation |
| I'm reading the first book of the "Kristin Lavransdatter" trilogy. My adult DS picked it up in a used book store, read it, and recommended it to me. |
| The Making of Jonty Bloom. |
I posted earlier what I am reading but I think Station Eleven was my fave book of this year so far. I finished it last week. |
| The Unsinkable Gretta James - fun, light-but-not-empty read. |
|
Based on the recs, I'm getting:
The Unsinkable Greta James Olga Dies Dreaming Just read Rebecca Serle's In Five Years and loved it. |
Not reading it now but A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby was good. |
|
House of Sky and Breathe
I like the characters but it is waaaaaay too long. |
| We need a book forum! |
Serle has a new one out! |

The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett. It’s very good though I am having trouble getting into it. I think it’s because it’s about sisters and I’m having issues with mine.
I just finished Perfect Tunes by Emily Gould and would recommend, especially if you have ever struggled with holding onto yourself and your pre-kid dreams as a mom. Next up Hush Hush by Laura Lippmann because I need a good murder mystery. But I’m also very excited to read Circe by Madeline Miller as I’ve been in a Greek myths kick generally lately. |
