I’m reading something really fun right now. It’s called Killers of a Certain Age, by Deanna Raybourn. When four women assassins are sent on a retirement trip by the organization that employs them, they learn they’re the next targets. Great book and would make a fun movie.

I SO enjoyed that book! And you're right = it'd make a great movie. Who would you cast in it??

Stay True, by Hua Hsu. Started it recently and so far it's really good. We're close in age so the college nostalgia is strong.

Right??? Let’s see, they’re supposed to be 60, I think? I’ve been trying to figure out casting too lol. Meryl Streep as Helen? Michelle Yeoh as Mary Alice? Sharon Stone as Natalie? Barbara Hershey as Billie? I love Cate Blanchett and Naomi Watts in everything but they’re both too young, I think.

Who would you cast?

Ooh, or Jodie Foster as Billie - she has that intensity and depth. She replaces my Barbara Hershey suggestion lol

Ohhh I love this.

I keep getting Sandra Bullock in my head as one of the characters. But which one? I think CB and NW might actually be a good age.

Natalie - who's a good sexpot actress who isn't so young anymore. Sharon Stone is a good call, but I feel like that character might be a little softer in her presentation and vibe. Same with Jean Smart, much as I want to see her in EVERYTHING. How about... Geena Davis? Or Goldie Hawn? (I know I am playing a little fast and loose with the characters' ages.)

And who'd play Helen's love interest? Maybe we could get a Matthew Mcconaughey, aged up a bit? I loved Andy Garcia in Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar:

Davis and Hawn if they wanted to take a comedic play on Natalie. For a sexy older woman with a hint of steel and irony, Isabella Rossellini.

I was in a serious slump in terms of finding a book to keep my interest. It seems like everything of my favorite genre is so formulaic that it makes it less fun. So I've been taking a stab at some different genres namely autobiographies right now and it has done a good job. Listening to them on my drive into work its like a 10-20 hour personal interview with these authors. I was listening to podcasts on this drive, but books / autobiographies seems like a lot better use of my time.

Just finished "The Echo Chamber" by John Boyne which made me LOL. Now reading "Afterlives" by Abdulrazak Gurnah which is really great so far.

The Lightening Struck Heart, TJ Klune. I’m only a chapter in and I cannot stop laughing. So good.

And would you recommend it?

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s fluffier than her well known stuff and too cutesy and repetitive.
