Ahhh. You have not been introduced to the complex world of hakarl, or rotted shark meat. It's a delicacy in Iceland. Travel, and you will be introduced to new things!

Or kiviak, or shiokara. Or others. The world is complex and varied, and I am unwilling to eat all of it.

Very niche. Doesn't count.

They are foods. That I will not eat. Check out the title.

Sorry your experiences have been limited to Burger King and a bowl of fruit on the kichen island.

NP here. Yes, you're technically right, but appear to be trying your level best (with this and the chocolate discussion) to be the biggest d-bag possible. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You are really high maintenance!

Probably. I eat everything else though and I am not high maintenance in any other area of life. Its likely a texture and/or smell issue. Mushrooms, eggplant, and cooked brussel sprouts make me want to vomit when I smell them. Texture issues- olives, capers, lima, bad tomatoes, sauerkruat, thousand island. I wont eat crabs/lobster because they also have a rubbery texture.

Oh yes and any artificial sweeteners. I was so sick for 3 weeks and was being sent for very scary testing for brain tumors. They thought I had a brain tumor b/c I had 24/7 vertigo and couldn't stop throwing up. Nope, I finally realized I had started to replace real sugar with splenda and had a horrid allergic reaction.
Now not one iota of artificial sweeteners will cross my tongue.

Well, with the first post example of "eel" being a daily diet item for so many Americans, I can definitely see your point.

My thought was "You're really missing out!"

I never understand people who REFUSE to eat someting (that they aren't deathly allergic to). Most of the time, you "hate" a food because your first experience was bad -- due to poor preparation or some negative context. Why shut the door forever?

As a kid, I hated most of the foods PP listed. Now I love many of them. Your tastebuds mature -- give new things a chance!

I gave black licorice its chance. The door is closed. The risks are too high.

+1 to this. I had to reintroduce my husband, and later his family to properly prepared vegetables - mostly roasting and grilling. Nothing canned, mushy, tasteless or smelly.

Now I'm always assigned the vegetable dishes, which is fine. They are easy, and then I know they will be delicious.

Goat cheese, organ meat (or any other parts of an animal that are non-standard in Western cooking, like tongue, feet, etc.), turkey, beets, sweet potatoes. Also pretty much all prepared savory dishes involving sweet/sugary/fruit flavors. Like orange chicken, rice pilaf (or chicken salad or whatever) with fruit, etc. I could take a bite to be polite but would really prefer not to.
