High waisted jeans are not comfortable

Anonymous
I find mid-rise (just below bellybutton) to be the most flattering for me (size 8, applish shape). It kind of bisects the abdominal fat/muffin top and gives me a better line.

I wish every company wasn't constantly pushing super-ultra-ribcage-level high rises right now. It's so annoying

This.
Too many women and girls wear clothing that are a size or two too small for them.

Are they "pushing" ultra high rise or just... making them? I don't find it hard to find midrise jeans. The super high rise tend to be a specialty item. Just like the easiest jeans to find these days are straight leg, though you can absolutely find skinnies or wide legs or flares or bootcut without trying too hard.

Some people like high rise. It's good that they make jeans people like. As long as you can find mid-rise jeans (which you can) I'm not sure why you care.

Agree, though I do think it can be tricky with jeans. I wear three different sizes in jeans even though this is supposed to be a waistband size. But it depends a lot on the Lycra content of the jeans as well as the stiffness of the denim. There are jeans I have to buy at the top of my size range because I know they will shrink slightly with wear. And there are other Is have to buy at the bottom of my range because the denim is very stiff and I know the best way to get a good fit is to buy tight and let it relax/stretch to my shape as I wear them.

I think a lot of women who don't like high rise are simply wearing a size that fits them in a lower rise but is too tight with the higher rise. The fit of a high rise and skinnies (people's old go-to) is really, really different, and high rise jeans tend to have signficantly less Lycra content and be made of thicker, stiffer denim. And people aren't adjusting their size accordingly.

You know I keep reading high rise or low rise… Hello what about mid rise?
What’s frustrating about the fashion industry they are not paying attention to body types how to flatter a figure to look nice.
It seems they look to Hollywood which can be pretty scary .. It didn’t use to be that way.
Hollywood had good taste back in the 80s they did have high rise tho but it was narrow at the ankles which helped with making legs look longer.
I don’t get the high rise along with wide legs dragging on the ground and it cuts a person over 1/2 with high rise.
If you are tall and have long torso go with high rise and wide legs but for crying out loud don’t let it drag on the ground.
If you are petite or under 5’4 and have a long torso you can wear high rise but I would steer clear of wide legs try to find pants that are narrow at the ankles back in the 80s we called the pants carrot style ( relax around the butt and thighs but narrow at the ankles ( similar to skinnies but more relaxed).
However for us who are short and have mid or short torso.. Mid rise is the way to go and carrot style pants.
Mid rise gives you appearance of a longer torso and carrot style gives you the longer leg look.
Low rise well what can I say? It doesn’t only show the butt crack it makes a women’s hips look big it’s not figure flattering on any one but of course I suppose if many of you would disagree that’s ok but I would like to know how and what I am missing.

PP, mid rise is very in right now. Lots of mid rise options in stores and online.

I personally find high rise very comfortable. I have a pair of high rise corduroy pants that I pulled out to wear this week and when I put them on I was like "aaaaaah, these are so nice."

The key is to buy the right size so you can sit and move around without them cutting in. I don't wear my jeans and pants skin tight. Especially in my 40s -- I'm in good shape and fairly thin but there is more roundness in my belly than before kids and I'm not dying to emphasize that with super tight jeans, regardless of the rise.

And they make your butt look flat. I’ve never seen a good looking butt in high rise.
