| To wear for long periods of time, ie all day, on long car rides, playing on the floor with kids. Do you agree or disagree? How do you get around this and how long will they last as the dominant style? And yes as a 41 year old I know I can wear what I want and I am not fashion plate by any means but I like to look vaguely updated. |
| And they look horrible. |
| I love them. Way more comfortable than low rise for me. I think it depends on your body type. I am pear shaped. |
| muffin tops are so unattractive. |
| Op here — I have an athletic build with small hips and a defined waist but not a tiny one. |
+1 |
| Get over it. We're tired of seeing your butt crack. |

I agree. My most flattering, best fitting high rise jeans are too uncomfortable for me to wear sitting at my desk all day, or on a plane, etc. I would wear them out to lunch/dinner or a family event or things like that.
I have some high rise, wide leg jeans that are very comfortable for any kind of use, but they are a little harder to style. I like boyfried style for something more of an all-day wearing jean. |
| For me they are more comfortable. Don’t pinch the pooch. |
| More comfortable for me. I hate having my midriff exposed which is what happens when I wear mid or low rise. I also feel like my pants will fall off if they are not high waisted. I have a straight body type, slim and athletic, with a bit of loose skin on tummy from babies. High-waisted holds all that in. |

Not all high waisted jeans are the same. I have one pair which I agree is not that comfortable. It's a pair of Levi's "ribcage" jeans with a button fly and the denim is pretty stiff. They really suck me in and look super cute with a tank or t-shirt tucked in, and a pair of booties or sandals. I wear them to concerts or out to grab drinks with friends, but they are not an "everyday" pair of jeans and are definitely not comfortable sitting on the floor playing with my DC.
But I also have a pair of Madewell Perfect Vintage in a high rise, as well as a pair of Mother jeans in a very high rise, and they are both super comfortable, with just the right amount of stretch to look good but not be constricting I like that the waistbands sit at my natural waist so I don't ever get rolls or pinching at the waist band -- it naturally fits the narrowest part of my torso. I like that they give my booty a little lift without having to be super tight. And all my high rise pairs have a straight leg, which I find so much more comfortable than either skinnies or wide leg jeans. Jeans are never quite as comfortable as leggings or, say, a pair of linen drawstring pants. I mean, I guess a very soft and worn in pair of boyfriend style jeans would be very comfy, but they would also do nothing for your figure. Which is fine! Not all pants have to hug your butt or nip your waist. But I have found that among pants that DO flatter my body, high waisted jeans are no less comfortable than other pants. You need to try on more than one or two pairs, and as with most clothes, buying higher quality items will often result in more comfort. If you are just trying high waisted styles at Old Navy or the Gap and deciding they are uncomfortable, you are kind of shooting yourself in the foot. Quality matters a lot with jeans. |
| I have a pair of semi high waisted jeans. They come to just under my belly button (is that considered high waisted?) they are comfy. Anything higher looks ridiculous. On most people. I think it accentuates a gut. And I don’t even have one I’m a size 4! Mid rose jeans are the best for me as I don’t have a muffin top. I’m glad the super low waisted jeans are out. |
Same here! A good fitting high waist jean is like a hug! Love that feeling. |
+1. I think fit and quality go a long way. |
I bought a pair that I love except for the fact that my muffin top is now up under my boobs instead of down by my hips. |
