My parents, in the 70s, got together. One was white European, the other east Asian. They didn't even have a common language when they met, let alone a common religion or culture. Yet they have plenty of things in common: similar ideas about finances and parenting. I was born in 1980 in Europe, and for the longest time was the only mixed child in the schools I attended. No one ever commented on the mixed origin, since it was so beyond people's experience that it just did not factor at all. There was no teasing, bullying, no comments whatsoever. My parents were highly recognizable walking down the street, since they were the only mixed couple, but they were never criticized. It helped that my father knew to play on people's perceptions, and made a point of being courteous and well-dressed. And now, in my 40s, after marrying someone from yet another culture, and having very genetically-mixed children, I come on DCUM and find people questioning mixed relationships, and I'm just floored. This was my normal all my life. How can people still have doubts that mixed marriages work?!? |

Let me break it down for you. Mixed kids are no cuter than non mixed kids. They are not more special. People like you who focus on their mixed status are either creeps are overcompensating for their racists attitudes by making such ridiculous beliefs.
