My concern is except child find he has no real experience in mcps but seems better than most.

Not true. His daughter is in PEP. PreK programs deserve more attention from the BoE and central office, since right now they don't get any attention.

I'm not impressed with him, though. His statements and responses lack substance, carefully avoiding taking any positions that might upset either parents or teachers.

He has zero chance against an incumbent.

It’s great that you’re not impressed but I like the idea of new blood.

Here’s the conundrum that the BOE has caused for itself and the future of MCPS. Their “leadership” that has led to declining educational outcomes and declining trust has caused people like me, who value public education, desperate for change. This has created opportunities for outsiders to challenge BOE members. But sometimes those outsiders could have other agendas.

This guy has worked for at least one organization whose mission has been promoting school choice. Through the BOEs incompetence we may have crossed a threshold where charter schools are inevitable and MCPS loses its reputation as a high quality system.

They need to wake up. But the President of the BOE seems all to happy running things into the ground, so long as she’s feels powerful with her scheming and politicking.

He has some chance. Jeanette Dixon defeated an incumbent in 2016.

I do too, but we should be able to do better than this guy.

Pep absolutely needs more funding but that doesn't give him any experience in K-12 which is what MCPS's focus is on. I think he's refreshing after all the people we have had and currently have. It would nice to get someone completely different.

He seems fine. Why don't you run if you can do better?

I'd vote for him if he's on the Apple ballot.

I'm also voting straight Apple ballot because I support teachers!

Sound familiar? Ringing any bells?

San Francisco is probably the most far left, pro-Democratic Party city on this planet, and the recalled who again?

Oh right - their Board of Education!
