| I thought I had read that she broke up someone’s marriage? A vegetarian writer named Jonathan Szafran. And she was so taken with him that she had to start writing to him. Gag. |

NP but thinking someone is stalking her doesn’t read as smug or conceited to me, it reads as paranoid. Natalie Portman is a famous movie star, not Sue from accounting. She probably has had overzealous fans in the past. Her mom was obviously being paranoid but we don’t know what other scary fan encounters Natalie may have had. |
That’s not really accurate from what I understand based on this phenomenal Reply All episode: https://gimletmedia.com/shows/reply-all/94hord Sounds like he had feelings for her she didn’t reciprocate. She certainly does come across as fairly ridiculous in that episode. I highly recommend it. |
Not quite -- the actual story is hilarious. Portman and Jonathan Safran Foer became friends a long time ago because she was a fan of his novels, and then she became a vegan because of his non-fiction book on vegetarianism. They wrote these long and hilariously pretentious and self-congratulatory emails to each other for years, and you can read many of them online. Apparently Safran Foer though this correspondence was evidence that he and Portman were in love, and he told his wife and they split up. The only problem is that Portman was and is married to ballet dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millipied, and was not in love with Safran Foer and was actually just enjoying what she considered to be stimulating intellectual correspondence. This anecdote neither makes me like nor dislike Portman (who seems kind of insufferable on a personal level but otherwise inoffensive as a celebrity). It does make me think Jonathan Safran Foer is (1) obsessed with her, and (2) extremely stupid. This remains one of my favorite celebrity gossip items though, even these years later. https://www.vox.com/2016/7/14/12187884/jonathan-safran-foer-natalie-portman-emails |
| Jonathan Safran Foer is insufferable and his books are so over-rated. |
He’s completely insufferable. He left the incredibly beautiful and talented Nicole Krauss due to his infatuation with Portman. |
| You need a hobby badly OP. Surely, you can find something better to do with your time. You sound insecure + jealous to be making up rumors about a Jewish actress. |
| Jonathan S-F's books aren't even as good as those by his ex wife, Nicole Krauss. Her books are amazing. |
+1 There! Someone finally said it. |

1) I heard the same rumor about her when I was at MIT, but I figured people probably think that anyway because she's famous and that's why she got into Harvard.
2) I thought she kind of got her comeuppance with that messy baby mamma situation. 3) Haven't seen her in anything since then |

Yeah, the two bolded things are kind of at odds with each other. She's smart enough to know that she's getting special treatment...or she's not that smart. |
I thought she was terrible in Black Swan. I honestly thought it was supposed to be some sort of camp performance for the first 3/4 until I realized that it was intended to be a serious drama. I've always found her to be a so-so actress (except she was legitimately good in The Professional). But I remain mystified why she got so much phrase for that terrible, hystrionic performance in Black Swan. |
I feel so validated other people agree with me on this. Emperor, clothes. |
