Having had a child in APS I can tell you it’s not always great to have access to grades 100% of the time. Oftentimes scores were not entered causing even more anxiety as my child had times she thought she was failing.
There are pluses and minuses as with everything. |
SSSAS hasn't updated its physical plant or sports facilities in years, and this grading issue is just the icing on the cage. |

| But they are very woke, so they have that going for them. |
Construction on the new any starts this year! I agree, the current facilities are drab. |

| Hey parents, how about telling your kid to do their best and not worry about the grades? You now know that private schools don't give you an advantage in college admissions, so teach your kid to focus on what they can learn. Their obsessiveness is likely learned from you. |
| Up in Bmore most of the independent schools have this. My kids found it particularly helpful last year when they were turning in papers electronically. Sometimes a teacher missed an assignment or kid didn’t actually turn it in 🙄 and it was easy to see and correct either way. Very useful tool. |
| This is not the case at all private schools. At our JK-12 in VA parents and students have real-time access to an open gradebook for MS and US. |
This is happening to us too-makes everything look extremely suspicious when you think you are getting an A all semester and then…surprise! At the last minute too! |
| My kids' DC private makes grades available for MS and US. |
State of the School call this week says postponed until 2023 at the earliest with completion sometime 18 to 24 months after that which likely means 2025-2026. Not happening anytime soon. Overrated |
I’m sorry what? I was there for the entire webinar, and that was never said at all. |
Can someone confirm this? Applied for 9th, and a delay on the remodel would likely knock SSSAS out if my DC’s top choice. The facilities are so outdated compared to other private schools charging $45–51k a year. |
My kids are in the lower school so I wasn’t paying super close attention but they definitely said they were on track, NOT delayed or postponed, a d that construction would take a year, and only a wing of the building would be closed during the academic year and the rest of the work would be completed over two summers. The dates were either June 2022-August 2023 or June 2023-August 2024. I’d confirm with the school if that difference matters for your situation. Also the middle school and lower school have been updated in recent years and neither was delayed or took longer than expected. They are very good about sticking to a timeline. |
