| SSSAS just did a pilot program for visible grades. It was fantastic. I cannot see a downside for the faculty. In fact, I would think that it would be easier for faculty. From a student perspective, the visibility has decreased anxiety and actually motivated my DC. |
| What is this? Google didn’t lead me anywhere and now I’m intrigued. |
| More info please! |
| The students see everyone’s grades in the class? |
|
Previously the 3rd grade was invisible?
I am a teacher and I have no idea what invisible grades are. |
Whoa. I hope that’s not it. OP, where are you? You’ve left us all hanging here with such a vague post. |

Different poster-
My son is a freshman and was able to see his Physics grade online in My School App. None of his peers could see it. It's like ParenVue that they use in Arlington Public Schools. He came home pretty upset that he can no longer check it. He said it gives him less anxiety to know exactly where he stands in the class. He said he gave the school feedback, but it sounds like many kids did not like being able to see their grades. He reports that he wishes it could be opt in so that everyone would be happy. I'm just the messenger... I don't have an opinion except to say that no two kids are the same and they're all motivated in different ways. This method happens to work for my kid. |
| So the default is kids can’t see their grades but now they’re giving an option for some kids to view them? Still a bit perplexed here. |
I think it’s certain classes, not certain kids. For example, physics for freshmen. |
SSSAS doesn't have a system that lets kids see their grades? Other than Amish one room schoolhouses, I thought every school had such a system. |
That is such a public school thing. |
Wait, so a school that charges $70k a year doesn't even have a secure website for students and parents to check their interim grades?! I can understand this for elementary school, but not middle or high school. |
Meaning the local private schools keep students in suspense all freaking semester? Even the big 3? This gives me anxiety just thinking about it. |
At my DC’s Big 3, no grades are posted online until the report card comes out I actually didn’t know this was a thing at public school. Now I am actually furious at the school. The place is a cesspool of anxiety and I think having access to grades all semester would help this! I am actually feeling so naive that I had no idea this wasn’t the norm. |
| I am also surprised this isn't already a thing there. I have one in private elem. (no real grades) and one in APS middle school. Both my middle schooler and I can access ParentVue at any time and see not only their current course grade but the grade they got on every assignment that has been graded. I find this really helpful and couldn't imagine that private high schools would not have this! |
