Oh please. That is a completely ridiculous, unfounded allegation by a hysterical LWNJ. |
Are you illiterate? “HB 24 and HB 46 would implement a photo ID requirement at voting precincts. Currently Virginia voters can use non-photo ID, such as a birth certificate or utility bill in their name, to cast their vote. The bills would also repeal language allowing voters to use expired driver’s licenses to vote. ” I’m currently a registered voter who wouldn’t be able to vote. |
Not under the new proposed law. |
| Why do republicans want fewer people to vote? Can a republican answer this honestly? |
So you carry no official ID? Every time I go to the doctor, they want my drivers license and insurance card. Do you not fly? You need a drivers license or official ID for that (it's not impossible to fly without it, but it makes it 1000% easier). Buy alcohol? Many places require the server check not matter how old the person looks. I am almost 60 and get carded occasionally, and some grocery stores input my age from my DL. I needed my license last when I just purchased a new phone in the carrier store last month. You haven't bought a new phone from your carrier? A photo ID is required for obtaining medicaid, medicare and social security, obtaining a mortgage/refinancing, renting a car, buying some cold medications, opening a bank account - the list goes on. In other words, I don't believe your license is expired or you have another acceptable form of ID like a passport, so stop with your nonsense. If you truly have no way to officially identify yourself, then yes, you might have to get a free ID card. |
DP. I lived with an expired license for 10 years. When you live in an urban area with public transportation you don’t need one. At one point ai lost the expired id so lived without it for several years. |
| This is ridiculous, if you want to vote, make the effort. Voter fraud is a real issue. |
You mean all the people that voted in Youngkin and crew? Not sure I follow your logic. At the same time not sure there is anything wrong with voting process here. There are much more important issues here. You |
DP. I never get asked for my id when I go to the doctor.. they don’t even ask for my insurance card unless my insurance has changed since my last visit. I’m 20 years away from qualifying for Medicare or social security, and do not qualify for Medicaid. I haven’t been asked for a photo id when buying a new phone, but I don’t do it through my carrier. I rarely drink so getting carded isn’t a factor. We bought our house 14 years ago and don’t plan to refinance anytime soon because we did so a couple of years ago at a phenomenal rate. I haven’t needed to open a new bank account since I last did so 15 years ago. I don’t buy cold medicine from behind the counter. I do travel, but if I didn’t and I didn’t have a car, I could get by for years just fine without a valid drivers license. |
Show us the evidence of voter fraud in Virginia. Other than the multiple attempts by Youngkin’s kid to vote illegally for his dad last year, which were caught and stopped despite the fact that Virginia no longer had a photo id requirement. |
They would make things more difficult to vote. Voting should be *easy.* otherwise we end up with Republicans in office and Republicans are anti-American. |
Why do Rs benefit? We're all uneducated trailer trash, so how are we smarter than you to figure out how to vote without too much trouble? |
|
I am a permanent resident so not eligible to vote, but I follow the debate more or less. To me, it is wild - yes, wild - that someone can vote showing a utility bill, that’s insane.
Expired DL - ok, fine, but this?! Yes there needs to be a picture ID. |
Tell us an election that voter fraud changed the outcome in. |
| I truly don’t understand the voter Id issue. If there are truly so many people without valid ID, why not help them get ID? Seems helpful for life. |
