They did a great job with the basement by removing the dropped ceiling, they added height to the rec room with the exposed beams. The brick wall is also handsome. For the poster who asked about the living room rug: they have other rugs scattered through the house that look authentic. I agree with the other poster who thought they may have bought them in the Middle East. Although, I have found some good rugs here at estate sales in neighborhoods where military and state department people lived.

The owners did a great job on that house. Talk about ready to move in. Lovely work! And I would be fine with the dog food in the bench like it is. I actually think it is pretty clever!

I am looking at Fairlington now, and I really hope these owners got to live in that home for a while, because the cost of all those built-ins must've been insane. No way they get a good ROI on that. Also, way overdone. Maybe they did it themselves.

As a Fairlington resident, you are almost guaranteed to have mice. Any open food will make you their host home. We have lived here for 12 years and the number of mice we have caught is insane.

Also, that’s a really crowded kitchen. Great photos but man that many cabinets make a small home even smaller.

Not the owner but we recently bought in Fairlington and the renovation is well done. Storing dog kibble under a built in bench doesn’t seem bad to me not I take everything said on DCUM with a grain of salt.

They did a nice job on this. But there are SO many pictures of the stove island. Not sure that’s the best feature of the house.

I would HATE to live with that Stove in the middle with such little counter space. It's a pretty renovation, but not functional. Which is probably why they needed to put dog food in a bench.

Bench is a good place to store tablecloths and placemats. Mine are taking up the only really good drawer for things like pastry board and cookie sheets.

I first thought dog food but then was hoping it was maybe coffee beans? Not that I would want to use this to store beans but it somehow seems less icky. And the smell of beans wouldn’t be as revolting as kibble. Anyhow looked at the listing on larger computer screen and can confirm if it actually is dog food vs coffee beans?!

Duh. It is an industrial look. If you leave the drop ceiling in basement you have about 6 and a half height. Without the ceiling it feels more open.

You need to get out of your cookie cutter condo and see how people make small spaces work.
