What do your kids have for breakfast?

Oatmeal
Eggs + toast
Malt o meal with a little bit of maple syrup
Waffles
Homemade frozen cinnamon pancakes (baked in big batches and frozen)

+ always a side of fruit

Now that he's in high school and leaves the house before 7? Nothing.

Would love the recipe for the pancakes!

What is Malt o meal? Is that like cream of wheat? Does anyone remember coco wheats? I loved that as a child!

7 yo. Unfortunately he currently doesn't eat eggs, though he used to devour eggs in a burrito before. So it's a lot of bread-y food.

But our go-tos are:
Oatmeal with PB
English muffins w fruit
Cereal w fruit
Yogurt with toast
Pancakes or waffles w/fruit

Today I made him cinnamon toast (sprinkled w a little sugar) and a banana/date/oatmeal/chia seeds smoothie.

I should get breakfast sausages because he will eat that, too. For variety.

Today he had a parfait:
-fat Greek yogurt (protein/fat, calcium, keeps him full)
-strawberry mango chia jam (fruit, calcium, chia helps keep him full)
-frozen blueberries (more nutrients, sweetness… so easy to just keep frozen fruit around)
-low sugar cornflakes (for crunch, fortified vitamins)

Oatmeal with various toppings is also a good option.

4 year old and 2 year old. We do scrambled eggs almost every single day, sometimes alternating with sausage and bacon once in awhile. While they eat the eggs, which we serve first because then they are most likely to scarf them down, we prepare whatever the carb is. Oatmeal, a waffle spread with peanut butter and a bit of honey, or multigrain toast with butter and jam. Finally a piece of fruit.

We figured out early on that we need to serve in stages, or else they just eat the fruit and don’t want anything else. We don’t act like the fruit is dessert or anything- we just matter of factly start cutting the fruit while they eat their carb. They don’t question it.

We really try to get them to eat protein in the morning, because they are both so picky about meat and beans throughout the rest of the day, but they will almost always eat their breakfast protein.

During the week, eggs, fruit and then toast/pancake/waffle.

If I’m having a rough morning, they will eat cereal.

On the weekends, since we generally do brunch, I add in some type of breakfast meat.
