CLOSED FRIDAY

So the mall Chick Fillet, Starbucks, rio, Cabin John, movie theaters, downtown Bethesda, Rockville pike will be packed with kids eating fast food and hanging out rather than in class.

Exactly how is this better?

Usually KAH! KAH is fantastic.

This time, MCPS even made KAH close. Screwing parents even more.

They already called a 2 hour delay so no parent had left for work already and even pre Covid in DC Friday already WFH my whole company

Lol way to our yourself as a North Bethesda/North Potomac mom.

As if "rio" and "Chick Fillet" are the only hangout spots in MoCo!

This was inevitable once OPM closed. They have never opened when the feds were closed. Nobody wants to stick their neck out and I probably wouldn’t either in that position.

My high school kid is walking to the bus stop before 7. I thought they decided at 5am most of the time (we are new to MCPS).

NOBODY is walking to the bus stop at 7am when there’s a two hour delay already in effect.

It’s better because it won’t be my kid doing any if that. Yours apparently will.

Troll, your kid was not walking to the bus stop before 7. They had already announced a 2 hour delay since last evening.
Nice try

Do people not know how to be parents anymore?! Tell your teens to stay at home! It’s not that hard! And before you ask, yes, I have parented teens within the last 5 years.

UM, this thread is about a weather related closure. You may be in the wrong place.

we work but both do shift work hours thankfully. The longest we need childcare is 3 hours and it’s not every day. DD is 9 now so we can leave her alone, although prefer not to. Sometimes she goes to a friends, sometimes a Grandpa helps out, Grandpa is purely back up though. We did have to scramble more when she was younger, but it’s gotten better. I do feel like if you have kids you always need to have a plan B and C for school closures.

No need to exaggerate. Many kids stay home all day including my teenagers. Too much computer and phone time but not socializing in person

Same as in Snowmageddon a decade ago.

I was driving to work to my HS (I am admin) before 6:00am because updates were supposed to be at 5am. Then the delay was announced at 6:09. Crap.

Oops!

But there is a huge difference between a few hundred people headed to 200ish schools and 200,000 people headed there.

Exactly this is not a weather related closing. Roads are perfect. Sun is out. If it is a back door Covid things kids are out anyhow.
