CLOSED FRIDAY

Fairfax, DC, Feds all called it last night. Makes it so much easier to plan. But MCPS acts like they are going to be tough and not close and then they do the same thing but at the absolute last minute. So ridiculous!

Yup still at home. It’s like March of 2020 again.

They take off work, OR work from home while trying to manage their kids, OR they seek childcare from babysitters, neighbors, family, OR they take the kid to work with them. Same things that have been going on for decades.

We have 1 inch of snow, already melting.

Just pathetic.

Been 100% working from home since March of 2020

These jokes pretending to be hyper critical are kind of funny for a while but they get old pretty quick and contribute nothing.

Usually KAH! KAH is fantastic.

This time, MCPS even made KAH close. Screwing parents even more.

Last time I looked last night all MD schools were 2 hour delays...as we know the call was really borderline. My Rockville street is bone dry with a bit of white fluffy snow on the sidewalk and grass. We complain that they waited. We complain that they close. We would have complained if they opened too.

and my rockville street wasn't plowed until 7:45 am. Sidewalks have 3-4 inches of snow, except mine, since I cleared mine at 6:30 am.

Yes but it is a no brainer to close with many schools in the red Covid zone and many kids and teachers out. Even more would have been out today.
This is a difficult time but why pretend otherwise.

This was inevitable once OPM closed. They have never opened when the feds were closed. Nobody wants to stick their neck out and I probably wouldn’t either in that position.

My high school kid is walking to the bus stop before 7. I thought they decided at 5am most of the time (we are new to MCPS).

Not when there’s already a delay though.

+ 1. And not to mention all the bus routes that are not operating. Monifa is clearly in over her head

They have no clue what they are doing. The message said reevaluate at 5, but they meant 7.

This was the reason for the delay order last night. Guidance changed yesterday and it looked like it would snow less, so MCPS decided on a 2 hr delay to give them more time to decide this morning.

Some perspective... Fairfax and Arlington had a scheduled 2 week Winter Break and they have been out all week this week. All announcements were that the closures were weather related.

MCPS information may be all over the place and they may be changing rapidly to figure out how the can communicate all the cases... but they are saying something, which is more than Fairfax and Arlington.

(On the other hand, it's possible they will open next week with rested, healthier staff and students)
