Private & Independent Schools
| St Johns emailed them on 1/22 last year. |
|
The "schools" don't send them, STS does.
From the adw website.. Q: When are test scores released? A: All parents/guardians of students taking the HSPT in December and January will receive a copy of their child’s HSPT scores via email, in January 2022. All test results will be emailed from Scholastic Testing Services, Inc. Electronic results will be emailed from reports@ststesting.com. Scores will not be released until all archdiocesan testing is completed and all scores are available for release. ADW Catholic schools and the HSPT Office are not permitted to release students’ scores. |

With my older kids the scores came on 1/21 and 1/23 of the respective years (in an email from STS).
Amusingly, when I searched for STStesting in my email, it asked me if I meant STD Testing.

| I'm the PP who tested at O'Connell on 12/4 and got results on 1/10. In arrived in an O'Connell envelope. Maybe STS AND the school send them, with STS sending them later? |

My guess (and only a guess) is that its a bit of a conspiracy among the "ADW" schools not to send them out.
The main part of the conspiracy is that you don't see you scores before you apply. That's a complete joke. How many kids that wind up with inadequate scores sent applications to schools they either won't get in or won't get any necessary merit based aid at? Also, a few kids probably hit home runs and wish they HAD sent applications to different schools. The other bit I suppose, is to prevent schools from trying to poach high scorers. VA schools and Baltimore schools maybe, aren't bound, or bound as much, by such "agreements". |
Really? I'm not so sure about that. Some of the most selective schools don't even accept HSPT, with the exception of Visitation and Gonzaga. And FWIW, SJC has always tried to "poach" high scorers with their Scholar's brunch....inviting people who did not even apply to the Scholars program but have high HSPT scores. All the schools get the scores way before the students. That said, I have no idea why they would delay sending to students. |
I have no idea why ADW has scores sent to the high schools before the student’s families. It makes no sense and I don’t see the value in doing so. |
I think its a solid theory. Theses schools, largely the WCAC lets say, have an interest in balancing the load and having a diverse student body. And wrt Prep, my one kid ended up not applying in part because we DID get the SSAT (?) result before the app deadline. He might would have gotten in (all As, 90th percentile) but they have lots of those kids. If he had been in the upper 90s we might have gone ahead with applying even though it was (on paper) out of our price range. |
| If I had to guess, this Friday will be the day they are released. I'll be refreshing my mail more often that day. |
| Tomorrow (Friday, January 21) -- HSPT results for the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) will be emailed to parents. Just confirmed this with the ADW today. Good luck to everyone! |
Good luck to everyone, but one test result is not the end all be all. My pretty meh HSPT-scorer didn’t get into the schools they thought they wanted. Landed at our local NOVA public, and THRIVED. Now a sophomore at an Ivy, where they are also thriving. Keep it in perspective - it’s ONE test and certainly not an indication of how HS or beyond will go for your child. |
What is a “meh” HSPT? Below 70%? |
Sometimes coming out of a public gives kids advantages, especially a high performer coming out of a school with mainly low performing students. |
Thanks for the heads up! |
| I heard that ADW is not releasing scores this year an making kids wait until acceptance time. Schools outside of ADW might be getting scores though. Is this true? Not sure why they would do this but curious. |
