Wootton’s COVID positivity rates may be due to old poorly ventilated building

Long history of sidelining replacement/renewal projects for projects that expand capacity where there's overcrowding.

Well for some reason the renovation was canceled by MCPS. Now we got a very old building and the highest COVID positivity rates. The building is old and there are many interior classrooms with no windows. @MCPS has failed those students. I am feeling litigious and want to sue. While Wootton was taken off the list to renovate, I see Whitman is getting a new addition

Seems more likely it's arrogance. There's been an attitude of this can't possibly happen to me there from the beginning so many don't observe the protocols which are common elsewhere.

Perhaps the COVID spread is from the large parties students host. At least one large party with wall to wall maskless students was held on New Year’s Eve.

The school buildings in Florida are just as old and they have much lower cases than MD or Wotton and they’ve been in school longer and without masking.

Sources?

They were already posted 12/31/2021 11:26. It's amazing who argues without even reading the posts!

Cannot trust Covid numbers in Florida. They have been notoriously under reported and they don’t even list Covid as a cause of death in the Florida health departments website. Don’t you remember there was a former employee from Florida who started posting COVID numbers independently after she was fired? Don’t believe anything from Florida. Heck governor DeSantis has been missing since December 17. No word from him saying he is OK, he’s on vacation, nothing. Radio silence. I would never take any data from Florida seriously.

Nice talking point. You’ve got zero proof of what you say. Florida has to report numbers just like anybody else. If you think he’s working the numbers like Cuomo was, you know the feds would be down his throat. So take your stupid lies and shove them where the sun don’t shine. Florida is doing a better job than Maryland could ever dream of doing. It hurts your agenda, I know, deal with it.

If this is doing a better job, I think there is room for improvement.

Back to the original question - when will Wootton get a major overhaul? According to the CIP, it's TBD if I'm reading it correctly?

Your guess is as good as anyone's.

Wootton was on the list to be renovated next (along with Poolesville and Damascus), when MCPS changed the way they evaluate who gets renovated next. Small improvement projects rather than big renovation projects. Supposedly more bang for their buck.

However, Wootton doesn't help themselves comparing themselves to Whitman or referring to themselves as the "miserable middle class" when testifying before the BOE. And complaining about property values when talking about boundaries just makes BOE members angry - just watch their body language!

Interesting that DCUMS has been deleting questions whether Wootton is being discriminated against since it has the highest Asian population?
