This is not OK, at all.

Not OK to smack cat but if it worked then good. I'm sure cats don't bear grudges.

A pet is a living being and some days it will make it "worse" and some days not. Get a plushie if you don't want an something to enhance your life at all times.

PP here.

Sorry, but I stand by my comment. Any pet can cause problems on any given day, but they shouldn't dominate you. The idea for me, of having a pet is companionship, something to love and cuddle with and look after. It's supposed to be a blessing not a curse or something that decides whether it sleeps in my bed if I don't want it to.

Cats don't have to sleep in your bed and I presume OP has to get a good nights sleep so she can go to work the next day to earn money to pay the bills.

Get a backbone!

First of cats are not nocturnal. They are crepuscular. Which describes animals whose peak hours of activity occur at dawn and dusk. I have had several cats. If you play with the cat about 30 minute before bed & really give the cat a lot of attention. Then tell your cat it's bedtime & then go to bed. Not give her attention unless she comes to snuggle then let her.. The cat should go to sleep or leave the room to find something to play with. . It may take a couples days but it should work.

NOT ok, but their entire lives seem like bearing huge grudges just having to be around people with expectations.

dp The idea that a living thing has to always "enhance" your life is what the pp is objecting to. My cats/dogs do not sleep in my bed and do not climb on the furniture BUT there are days they do try me! But then again even my spouse and kids do that!
