Kids from bad homes tend to shy away from marriage and kids—especially boys. Plenty of psychology and family research on this. |
Sigh. Obviously not every working mom has a negative impact on her kid. But sometimes kids with absent parents do suffer and act out. Bouncing around multiple schools followed by an inability to commit to a relationship point to something, no? Why do you think so many kids of celebrities are screwed up? Absent parents. To be clear: your average Dcumlandia 9-5 isn’t the same as super-driven/super-successful career women. And, artists are notorious for having other issues (anxiety, mania, addiction, etc.). Lastly, any marriage can go off the rails and prompt fighting. If kids see that, they shy away from marriage (particularly boys when the mom is the one who brings drama). |
how was his home bad? I am not seeing it. |
It’s a guess. Everyone here is guessing. But dismissing it completely is silly. It isn’t a stretch for kids from bad marriages to shy away from marriage. |
| Women are so cruel. All this speculation about how awful Mama Wilson must have been to her boys. What about their father? Not one mention or speculation about how awful Papa Wilson may have been to his boys and their upbringing. |
Maybe his dad was a jerk? Maybe that’s why Owen won’t acknowledge his love child and why Luke won’t settle down? Who knows? Typically, daughters of bad fathers act out sexually and date bad men. Sons of bad fathers embrace their bad behavior. Sons with mommy issues have trouble with intimacy. |
but we have literally zero evidence that their parent’s marriage was bad. they were married for like 50 years until the father died. |
This is a total crap based on nothing. It’s much more likely that the brothers were screwed (insofar as they were screwed) by being famous Hollywood stars with easy access to infinite number of beautiful women. |
This is awesome! If I knew you in real life, I’d suggest we have an annual tradition of watching the episode with food and drink appropriate to the setting. |
I still remember the name of the episode: Bad Blood! So hilarious. I’ll toast to you in absentia the next time I see it! |
| Believe it or not, there are perfectly desirable people who'd like to get married and have a family, but for whatever reason, it doesn't happen for them. |
| Sure - we are just wondering what that reason is. |
Sure, if you’re Brenda from DC…not if you’re a wealthy celebrity named Luke Wilson. If he asked someone to marry him, they would say yes. |
+1 Far more likely that they are just typical Hollywood egomaniacs. |
I’ve met him a few times and have been out with him. He’s nice, polite, shy and perhaps a bit boring. He does not come off as an egomaniac at all. |
