This. As if the schools dont have enough issues of their own..sub shortages that are requiring teachers to teach multiple classes; increase in mental health issues, etc. Absolutely mind boggling. |
They can come. They've always been allowed to come. Legally. Just like the millions of other immigrants have done by waiting in line with the UCIS. Just like my dad. Just like my wife. No one gets to cut the line just because they feel like it. We are an autonomous country with borders. We have the right like every other country on Earth to regulate immigration. Why democrats can't stand that fact is mind blowing. |
What a dumb argument. You can say that about almost any group on humans on Earth. Autonomous countries have borders. Every country on Earth is allowed to regulate immigration. Why do you hate it when the USA does it? I bet you look up to all of those Nordic countries, Australia, Germany, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, etc. too. Go lookup and see how difficult it is to migrate to those countries and what it also takes to become a citizen there. Why is the USA way too lax compared to other first world nations? Most everyone from Canada was a migrant at some point. Most people in Australia and New Zealand were migrants at some point. Heck, the Japanese came from China, and the Chinese immigrated from the areas around Vietnam if you wanna go down this rabbit hole. So I guess China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada should just open their borders and have uncontrolled mass migration because at some point in history they started their country based on migrants. Really, really dumb argument. |
How many parents do you think we should take in? An unlimited number from around the world? Or, perhaps we should have some limits? Oh, wait! We do have limits. Which is why the US, and every other country in the world, has immigration rules. Unfortunately, some counties and cities have decided to flaunt those rules to protect undocumented immigrants by becoming sanctuary cities/counties. |

I always get poo-poo’ed for this comment, but I worked for Montgomery county for 10+ years and they have so many free/super low cost ($10 per visit) health programs for “undocumented” women and children. It is unbelievably easy to register and qualify for these programs. |
All taxpayer funded too. They never want to talk about how illegal immigration costs the county tons of money. They constantly spend huge amounts of schools on overcrowding. They want to completely upend our way of life wrt housing because we need more affordable homes. Well maybe we wouldn't have schools with overcrowding if the idiots in the county stopped taking in illegal immigrants and made it so easy for them to stay. Maybe we would have as bad of a supply problem for affordable housing if US citizens didn't have to compete with thousands of illegal immigrants for the same housing. Why should we upend our way of life and demolish our neighborhoods because foreign nationals from other countries come here illegally and strain our housing resources? |

They are not illegally here, they use a legal means of coming to the US, it's called asylum.
The majority are coming to live with family. |

A lot of these measures, initiatives and policies are driven by politicians wanting to pat themselves on their back. It’s to make them selves and voters feel good about something but not really considering the ramifications and or considering the effects it has on the existing population.
I am not against asylum or taking people in but rather having well-thought-out limits and having a set plan rather than unlimited immigration. |
Please don't hijack this thread with discussion of illegal immigration. These children are coming through legal avenues and are legal in Montgomery County. |
Give me a break. Everyone knows what s farcical loophole they're exploiting. What political persecution are they fleeing. More specifically, please explain how one can seek asylum from their country of origin after passing over multiple countries even prior to the getting into the US? We all know they're economic migrants fleeing for economic opportunity. Under no world laws are countries required to let in immigrants who are seeking better economic opportunities. If they want better economic opportunities they can get in line like everyone else at UCIS. |
We do have limits. There is no such thing as unlimited immigration. Our economy relies on a certain # of immigrants, so there is actually a minimum too. |
So you don’t understand the law. They are coming to stay with family mostly from countries that had natural disasters, 20% come with a parents death certificate. The majority are coming to stay with family. You like your cheap pedicure, fresh vegetables picked by immigrants, clean house and Peruvian food though. Looks like our next restaurants will be Guatemalan , can wait. |
None of what you described above are flights from political persecution. |
Tell me you know nothing about the asylum process without telling me you know nothing about the asylum process.^^^ |
