Is this dress too casual for a wedding?

Maybe something like this?

THIS looks great, OP. Did you see it? Out of all the suggestions this one looks most appropriate for a barn wedding & reception, tights and boots.

OP here. Yes I like this a lot. I’m wondering if it would arrive in time. I’m running out today to hit a few places and try to find something similar.

I debated keeping the red dress for work (teacher) since I only paid $45, but given the comments I am just returning it.

But I'd look at getting a jumpsuit if you are worried about being cold.

I was going to post that it looks like a nightgown. That dress is pretty awful, it will look like you forgot to get dressed.

my god stop. You’ve already shamed teacher OP to return a half off $45 dress.

This. Black pants are absolutely better than that dress. I'm not sure why you think the thin cotton dress would be warmer than any other dress with a sweater over it?

Pants are definitely the best option to stay warm, and that's what I'd wear. Otherwise, put on a warm coat over whatever!

Good. I hope you signed up for their newsletter and got 15% off (the offer is at the bottom of the page if you scroll down). I don't know the brand/retailer so I hope their shipping is fast.

And don't return the red dress. It is a great teacher dress with tights and boots. And at $45 it is a steal.

Ignore the mean comments from some of the posters. Some people shouldn't be allowed out in public or onto the internet.

Wait...I thought teachers were running around in second hand Chloe dresses and Balenciaga boots.

Maybe a sweater dress? I really didn't like the linked dress - looks like a nightgown or something a toddler would wear.

No way. Too casual. It looks like more of a Christmas morning outfit to me. How about a nice sweater dress with a faux fur jacket? I'm wearing something similar to a holiday party.

Agree, except for that Anthropologie one. All awful or not appropriate for an outdoor wedding. Maybe because of Covid I haven't been getting out but fashion has gone down hill over the last couple of years.

Well, what would you suggest?

You could probably get away with this one from LOFT if you wear some sparkly jewelry:

The wedding is at a winery and the ceremony is outdoor and the reception is both indoor and outdoor. It’s going to be cold so I will also be wearing a coat for parts of it.

WDYT? I have several LBD’s I could wear but looking to branch out a little and hopefully stay warmer.

TIA.

That looks great – if you’re four years old.
