Fidgets and light up balls were a hit for us too.

My kids just don’t need all this small cheap plastic stuff. 7 year olds are certainly old enough to attend a party without it. If you really want to do something then get a $5 gift card to a local ice cream parlor.

OP. Please not this.

Parents may not want the goody bags but kids look forward to it whether it is junk or not. And a $5 gift card does not give the same satisfaction plastic crap gives. I am not being sarcastic.

You may be right, but we are in a bad place if kids need to be rewarded for attending a party.

If you attend a wedding, do you get a return gift or not? If adults expect to be rewarded, I think we can excuse little kids for expecting a party favor. We do this for what, 5 years in ES?

I have to ask - what's a "return gift" for attending a wedding? I think I may have gotten a small favor at weddings occasionally but usually I just give the couple a gift and that's it.

Sorry, wedding favor. In my culture we call it a return gift.

What if you made little s'mores kits for them?

None. Get some toys to play with there that they can take home.

Nothing - this is the age where you can stop giving goody bags.

OP again. I got a piñata and plastic goodie baggies for kids to take away candy — I understand that people don’t want candy but I’ve hit Target and Party city by me and can’t find enough of the same favor. Is that enough?

We did a piñata as last activity… and those bags were the favors.

Thanks, that’s my idea. I have such wildly different kids coming that I don’t think I can find a favor that’ll appeal, and I don’t want to deal with whining. I’m just grumping I guess.

For my soon to be 7 year old's birthday I got little $5 Lego kits (https://www.target.com/p/lego-minecraft-the-nether-duel-building-kit-30331/-/A-82862980) - in a few different themes.

For my soon to be 5 year old's birthday I'm doing Crayola glitter or neon sidewalk chalk and a sticker sheet. I had to order the sidewalk chalk from a couple random websites to get the cost down to $2 or $3 each.
