STA parents rarely start any of the STA threads. |
Sure
|
| Maybe not, but they certainly do contribute to them. |
Seriously? I am a relative newcomer to this thread and could care less one way or the other about STA. But I do know that STA is an elite and expensive school, so of course it attracts some arrogant and elitist families, and at the same time, it arouses a certain degree of jealousy and snark from people outside the school community, who deal with their own issues by calling out the arrogance. The same could be said about all the private schools in the DMV, and those type of interpersonal dynamics are as old as the institution of private education itself. And of course an anonymous thread on DCUM allows the negative emotions on both side (arrogance and jealousy) to be on display. But what exactly is the "problem" that you seem concerned about? |
| Commits to Michigan and UPenn x 2. Not bad for the perennial “bottom of the IAC” team. |
| Let’s just hope STA can win more than one game in the IAC this Spring |
| well if it can win more than one then it's probably not bottom of IAC, just second to bottom |
| are the STA commits in the class of 2023? |
Yes, all the above commits are in the class of 2023. Most other schools have additional commits from 2022, but STA does not. |
They have 2 D3 commits in the class of 2022. That's more the norm for STA as in the last 5 years they typically sent 2-3 kids to D3. The 2023 ramp up to high D-1 is all about the Heeterism of STA lax (using Next Level as a recruitment tool for STA). |
| What does STA's pipeline look like after the 2023s? Are they actively recruiting? Offering financial aid? |
Except 2 of the 3 don’t play for Next Level and I think may have predated Heeter’s arrival. STA needs to develop a pipeline to build depth. |
"Recruiting" is in the eye of the beholder. The fact that the HC is one of the directors of a club lacrosse team is turning out to be a true symbiotic relationship. The HC can "sell" STA to club players. The HC can also put a club player on the AD's radar and in borderline cases "sell" the player to the AD. Call it whatever you want. As for financial aid most of the high impact players who have been joining STA don't really need financial aid as far as I can tell. I do think in other sports they definitely make it clear that demonstrated need will be met, which is what they say to all applicants but to those being eyed for a team they really mean it. |
This was a helpful response, thank you. |
| Not sure there are many potential college commits after the 2023 class. That class is an anomaly. 2024 and on goes back to normal, meaning maybe one or two (possible D1, but most likely D3). Heeter is trying to recruit, as are others, but not many good lax players want STA. Their program just doesn’t have a good enough reputation or depth and isn’t attractive to top kids. |
