It is very popular right now. My dog is named Maisie and we see a lot of other dogs with the same name at the vet or doggy daycare.

I knew a Margaret called Muggsy. Nope.
But it's extremely preppy. So is Diggy. I knew a Margaret who was Diggy, but most have been Maggie, Marg, Meg, or Peggy.

The preppy thing to do is not to pick out a preppy name on purpose. It's to name your child some mixture of classic names and family surnames and quirky stuff like Apple, and then nickname them something else for some bizarre reason known only to you.
