Peg has a new sexualized meaning so don't use that one.

OP again. Gogo is out now. Just asked my husband and it’s a no.
Love Maisie - I think that would be the runner up right now

Miggs rhymes with pigs - playground bullies will hit that hard.

Middle name will be my family name.

I think all the nicknames for Margaret are preppy. Obvious ones: Meg, Maggie, Greta

Less obvious: Daisy, Muffy, Margo

These names are not preppy tho! Margaux, Daisy, Maisy, Molly love those....I have personally known a few Margot + Marguerites. Peggy might have been preppy 60 yrs ago? Def not now.

I like Daisy and Greta. But my DD is Margaret and always has been. We tried out Mara but it didn't stick.

Margaret is a lovely name, you don't need a nickname. But you could do a second first name and use that. Margaret Anne, nn Annie?

Maisie is cute. I don't think it's preppy, but I like it.

I have a Margaret (Maggie) named after an older British relative of my dad’s (Margy). Auntie Margy pronounced hers with a hard “g”. Similar to the sound in Margot, not like Marge. (Margy had a sister, Dody, whose real name was Dorothea, so so I guess it was a pattern? I’m 99% sure they both used the -y spelling, not -ie.)

When my daughter has to choose a screen name or something like that, she often uses something with Daisy. (Margaret is derived from the same root as the French “marguerite,” which means “daisy.”)

She’s tried out Meg in a phase where she didn’t like being called Maggie, but that one didn’t stick. And Peggy gets a firm “no” from her, even after watching Agent Peggy Carter kick butt in the Marvel movies and TV show.

One thing I’ve discovered since calling my Margaret Maggie: apparently it’s a really popular dog’s name.

I’d never known anyone with a dog named Maggie, but since my daughter was born I’ve had dozens of people say, “Oh, we had a dog named Maggie when I was growing up!”

I guess it’s nice that it has such a pleasant association for people, but I was never quite sure how to respond to that one!

Gogo? Like the boots? The dancer?

Glad your dh said Nono.

Love Maisie, it's my dog's name and she's the best.
