Why don't we get any days off for Easter?

In Egypt, Monday after Orthodox Easter is a national holiday where everyone goes on picnics and celebrates Spring and stuff, despite being a Muslim country.
I think we could use a National Picnic and Enjoy Yourself day as well! |

OP, I don't know the history of it, but I am guessing it is because Easter always falls on a Sunday, so originally there would be no need to have that day off to observe. I think if fell on a Monday we would have seen it evolove into a holiday.
Can't help you with Good Friday. The markets shut early in NYC, though. |

| I have to work Easter Sunday....I work for the Police Dept. Theres a lot of people who have to work on the weekend. It would be nice to at least get holiday pay. |
