Johnny Depp trial in Fairfax County

There are too many evidences showing she is not innocent in this and have staged a lot of things, makes my stomach turn that this woman just made fun of all the other women who are really experiencing injustice, what sick and twisted head she has!

IIRC not once did she say or write the words me too, however Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez used me too multiple times.

I'm sorry, just because she did not write it does not mean she did not get on that bandwagon. Why else would she write an oped? It was perfect timing and opportunity.

Er no, lunatics have been making threads to each of them, separately, because they're easy targets.

Kid should be off limits. No one should ever be posting a suggestion anywhere of putting someone’s baby in a microwave. Why are you trying to excuse this?

Court TV

Yes! Someone upthread suggested Court TV. I immediately switched. Much more objective commentary. Only downside, can't swipe forward or back. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

I really related to what AH's attys said about JD that he didn't accept responsibility for a single thing he had done, but kept blaming other people.

And I've been saying this since about 150 pages ago, but this whole trial proves the substance of AH's opinion article to start with. JD had a whole crew of people set up behind him to make sure that he stayed afloat, even if barely, and kept moving forward. No matter what crazy moves he made. And she had a crew of ... a makeup artist, I guess?

Because she was finally divorced with a domestic violence restraining order against Depp. She also announced her ACLA ambassadorship or whatever it's called. She had an attorney proof the Op Ed for any/all legal issues. Lastly, she had every right to speak or write about her experience.

I don't have an issue with her writing an oped about her experience if she was really abused, the issue with her is that she is an instigator in a lot of their fights as evidenced by her own recordings. To say that she is abused without mentioning that she is an instigator in their fights is untruthful, and worse when she speaks as an ambassador for the abused women.

I’ve made the same point. Wonder how many handlers it took to ensure he showed up, sober and on time, to court. Shame Disney didn’t hire them!

This reflects a really poor understanding of the cycle of violence. Setting aside this specific case, domestic violence tends not to be a linear sequence of constant abuse. After an abusive incident, the abuser tends to be remorseful at first, but then anger and other negative emotions build and build until it explodes in another episode of physical abuse. That period when the anger is building again can be torture for an abuse victim because they know another abusive outburst is coming but they don’t know when. The result is that abuse victims will sometimes do things during that period to provoke their abuser just to get the next episode of abuse over with. It’s a protective response, but the consequence is that it looks like the victim is an instigator themselves.

I’ve been wondering the same. So I guess he’s officially in Court Rehab?

This type of rationale is hurtful to those who are abused. Then it comes down to proving who started it. Chicken or the egg cycle

+100

AH aside I find his unwillingness to accept any responsibility profoundly unlikable. Everything is “well my
Mom was mean” (as if he hasn’t had decades and millions of dollars to seek help) or “well Amber did xyz first”

She had every right, and now those watching and listening have been able to form an opinion. Putting poop in their bed is one example of her own disturbing behaviors. She's not just an abused woman defending herself.

You are denying that the cycle of violence exists? I don’t know what to tell you, because it is all very well-established as an element of domestic abuse.

I guess you don’t believe victims unless they look the way you think a victim should look.
