| Veteran journalist David Shuster laid out the reported terms of the emerging U.S.-Iran agreement in blunt detail and called it a surrender. Under terms circulated by Iranian state media, the U.S. would withdraw all forces from the Persian Gulf, lift sanctions, release $12 billion immediately and another $12 billion within 60 days, fund $300 billion in Iranian reconstruction, and cede control of the Strait of Hormuz to Tehran. In return, the U.S. receives Iran's promise to discuss its nuclear program, a commitment Shuster said does not constitute a deal. |
Sure what media outlet will report the great victory as surrender? Ain’t going to happen. Trump and the Republicans are just trying to open the strait and then run away. If Trump walks away and claims victory that is the only thing that will be reported. The Dems are too scary to say anything. |
Trump is desperate to extricate himself from this quagmire, but I don’t think even his demented, narcissistic self is this desperate. The US is not giving Iran 300 billion dollars of American money. Yeah, Iran can have their own 30 billion confiscated dollars, but where is the 300 billion coming from? And no, the US is not pulling out of the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, Iraq, and Bahrain. No way. And where are the terms for Israel to stop bombing and annexing Lebanon to become the greater northern Israel. This agreement doesn’t sound right and there’s nothing in it for the USA. |
Not the PP, but I found it multiple places, one of which is Fortune: https://fortune.com/2026/06/13/trump-us-iran-peace-deal-mou-birthday-gift/ |

I can't find anything about the Iran deal on Fox News website's front page, so yes it must be extremely bad.

Basically Trump is paying extortion to Iran, pulling out significant US presence in the Gulf and ending the blockade in exchange for a 60 day ceasefire, the temporary re-opening of the Straigt and the ability to further negotiate on all of the other issues.
He did get a concession that Iran would not use its nuclear program for weaponry, but the JCPOA had already done that. So all in all it is a total fail. |
DP the problem with your statement is the withdrawal from UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi and Bahrain will happen. The US can not maintain bases in the region because of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities. It would cost 10-15 billion to build out each of these bases’ infrastructure to operate under constant missile and drone threats. Even then the base will be overwhelmed in a week or two. Any US military base host country is a target for Iran and the US did not defend these countries during the war. The US put all its resources in to defending Israel. The gulf states are pissed at the US and see no reason to continue the arrangements. The Lebanon part is in the proposal but does not impact the US. So is not talked about. A lot of the demands by the Iranians are facts in the ground. To change them the US would have to be willing to invade and see 20% of the world’s oil offline for 5-10 years. The Chinese have stop buying 7.8 million barrels a day. This is why oil prices are low. This will not last. Iran will have more leverage when oil price hit $200. |
+1 Ruben Gallego called it a “Temu JCPOA” 😆 |

If the right was apoplectic about the $400 million of "pallets of cash" Obama gave to iran, then what will they say about the $30 billion Trump is sending plus the $300 billion in reconstruction?
why is Trump willing to rebuild Iran's infrastructure but not in the US? |
| Israel has struck Beirut today, so no Iran deal today. Iran said "nope". Yall called it. Posters kept saying that Israel was going to do something to tank the deal. |
| Trump is publicly taking Hezbollah’s side over Israel because of this strike, and the US is about to give Iran $25 billion dollars and hope they’ll re-open the Strait of Hormuz. |
No surprise, there's never going to be any chance of peace because Israel didn't want it and they can just going Lebanon to prevent any kind of deal from going through. |
Republicans have zero credibility about anything. As soon as there was an inkling of a deal, Israel launched attacks on Beirut, knowing it would scuttle any Trump surrender to Iran. Israel is going to humiliate Trump and Republicans over and over again. The US can't even surrender properly with Israel determining everything. Technology has changed so quickly over the past three years. Every expert has been screaming about the new realities of warfare given what's happening in Ukraine. Drones have changed everything. But Trump, Hegseth, Vance, and Rubio were not prepared for modern realities. And so they are getting schooled by both Israel and Iran. This is the weakest and most pathetic administration in American history. Absolute clown show. Trump can't even manage a proper surrender to Iran. |
