ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Make sure you stomp your feet and make a really angry face when true SY only starts happening. It will start with ECNL providing waivers for homeschoolers and private school kids that started late.

According to the other DCUM thread on this US Soccer already voted internally and decided to stay BY.
Formalized on 11/22, according to this article, https://worldsoccertalk.c...th-system/

Your link doesn't work.

But I saw that link before. It's written by a kid 1-2 years out of college and his sources are non existent.

Either he has the scoop of the century and has some kind of connection into US Soccer. Or he's reading forums like this one and repeating the rumors as facts.

I prefer to believe the DCUM poster that said US Soccer already voted internally on the subject and chose BY.

Since neither cited their sources they seem to be equally credible.

Just received a US club soccer email….,

USCS, USYS and AYSO just put out a statement that said absolutely zero definitive.

But, it’s telling that USCS is driving this movement from the committee at USSF.

I guess the backroom chatter they’d been doing had reached a point at which SOMETHING had to be said publicly. And that something was a steam of nothing definitive.

Regardless of your position on SY / BY - their handling of this is nothing short of scandalous. In any business they’d all be fired.

The joint email was an ambiguous mess, but it did confirm that the discussion is BY vs SY and not GY.

"The next U.S. Soccer Board of Directors meeting is Nov. 22, 2024. We expect this topic to be on the agenda for that meeting and, consequently, a formal and public decision by the end of the calendar year."

So until December 31 we can be here speculating

Wonder if J Steele requested a delay to keep traffic flowing a bit longer.

At least now we are getting a formal announcement. Will be interesting to see how they vote. If you take ECNL president at face value it would seem strange to do all of this leg work to decide never mind we are going to keep it the same. Especially with a club like ECNL so openly against BY.

Let'w wait.

I was on the fence about if it were happening but this email made me solidly in the camp that they are going to change. Think about it, if there was a vote and it was a no, then why would they throw out the 12/31/24 date? This seems to be happening but I assume the regulatory bodies heard from their constituents that they needed to say something because all the DOCs were getting tired of parents constantly asking. now the DOCS have some air cover for at least two months.

This, AND, many of the DOC and club leaders at many many clubs were totally in the dark on this. There are clubs that finalized their teams in late August / early September that were very much unaware an in the “parent gossip” camp

They get AYSO on board with them. I think they get the majority they want.
