If Meghan was that concerned she could have stayed.

Since when is living on an island a requirement to be a Patron? Especially in the 21st Century? Should the Queen no longer be the monarch of Canada and Australia because she isn't resident there?

What did Meghan actually do for the National Theatre?

Enough that the begged for her to stay? IDK All I see is Henry & Meghan's patrons fighting to keep them and the other patronages iffy on the rest of the royals. Imagine the Kennedy Center being the sole domain of the President of the United States for 50+ years, then an upstart Congressperson comes onto the Board for 1 year, and they're willing to risk their reputation by publicly begging for that Congressperson to remain.

the daily express? lol

The DE is party of the palace royal rota - their version of the White House press corps. So yes.

AOC raised $2M for Texans in Les than 48 hours.

Surely Meghan can do the same.

Otherwise, who needs her?

Megs has already done that for 3 of her patronages - Mayhew, Smart Works, and the Hubb Community Kitchen. She not only raised initial seed money but also gave each of these organization permanent ways to continue raising money independent of her for years to come via her cookbook and clothing collection.

I suspect the Oprah interview in March will be launching Archewell links and community projects for the rest of them -- and the National Theatre if she can keep her ties somehow.

Um, why would she need “ties”?

After all, service is universal.

Even Americans have ties. They usually join the board. I suspect the British organizations have 'private' supporters and boards just like the Americans do.

Are you saying she needs a reason to help?

People fundraise for others without a quid pro quo. That’s true generosity.

She could literally post something encouraging her followers to continue to support the theatre directly. She could ask her fancy pals to make a donation. It’s literally the least she can do.

No. I'm saying its easier to help most effectively from within. If you've ever fundraised you'd know that organizations like to bring celebrities and influential donors on board to gravitate to them to the programs and operations that need the most needs and funds.

You can fundraise a couple thousand with a bake sale on the street. With the right connections and working with that organization's management - you can fundraise millions.

Is Meghan the only celebrity on the planet?

I’ve served on multiple boards.

I’ve also fundraised for worthy causes led by orgs I am not directly connected to.

And, we’ve all seen celebrities cut big checks or rally their followers to donate.

She could easily make a million dollar gift herself. She could easily post something on Instagram encouraging her followers to give. She need not have an official title...unless she’s just in charity for herself (which is what many believe).

You tell us. Why did you open this thread? What makes you care?
Genuinely interested to know the answer.

Not pp. Why do people always say this? Saying why do they matter is a legitimate point of view.

Why is important for you to respond?

To be the answer is obvious. The historical position of the BRF and their position in it sparks interest. That they’re the amongst the first royals to leave and carve out a new role makes them infinitely more interesting. Their experience has also highlighted many aspects of the royal family that are usually hidden which compounds interest—the racism, the relationship with the British media, etc.

What i find perplexing are the people who keep screaming that they don’t matter, they’re not interesting — and yet those same people keep up to date on Harry and Meghan’s every move. They dissect every press release, obsess over every photo while claiming “not to care” about them.

Hate-watching/following is a thing.

It’s why liberals followed Trump on Twitter.

I don’t expect sobfest, woe-is-me, or royal dirty laundry airing at the Oprah interview. I expect the whole thing to be the equivalent of some Glennon Doyle plus Instagram influencer nonsense — a mishmash of Black Lives Matter, My Life as a Working Mom, Charting My Own Path, Living Our Truth, etc etc plus news of new products or faux charity initiatives. It will be boring.

Anonymous wrote:When Meghan and Harry left my attitude was "good for them." They weren't happy and life is short-- so go do something else! I can't blame them for that. But leaving doesn't seem to have made them happy, either. They still want all the attention, but on their terms only.

Stay or go, but don't go and then continue to complain about it a year later. It's just so tiresome.

I was totally rooting for them in the beginning but they are ridiculous. You stopped doing charity work to do...this???

In order to keep Archwell, they’ll need a name with well in it.

Boswell?

Howell?

Lowell?
