ECNL moving to school year not calendar

US Soccer leadership has changed from 2015 to now. They may not have the same position as they had back then, particularly if the youth leagues have strong opinions on this issue.

I'm not sure what this thread is about, I'm trying to hook up with a soccer mom.

The key is to just ask their opinion on SY vs. BY and to give credit to their sources.

Unfortunately I am too busy hooking up with the coach to give you the time of day.

How else is little Johnny going to get extra minutes? This is easier than paying for private lessons.

Yes the same guy is trying to push rumors as facts.

November 22 can't come soon enough. Then we can all switch to the new thread discussing how unfair the change is (that everyone spent months warning us about)

193 pages is a sign of how uneducated the average soccer mom/dad in the US is, unfortunately. The federation doesn’t care what you think. They care about $$. Is it really that hard to understand?

I think the ECNL President was VERY intentional on the podcast to use the FED example of indicating interest rate changes prior to an official announcement. Mentioning a potential change several months in advance followed by articles also discussing the potential change that come out a month prior to an official announcement are text book PR moves. If I gambled, I would bet this is already decided...

Everyone agrees, this is why people are asking for citations when different articles make statements.

What I see is a media Blitz that's pushing the SY agenda.

It would be awesome if US Soccer just told ECNL "No" and made them play their hand. Unfortunately the kids are the ones that will be hurt with less competition and less opportunities.

If US Soccer told ECNL no it would force them to go SY alone.

If this happens all the different pre ECNL leagues will need to make a choice between BY and SY.

BY and SY teams will not want to play against each other in tournaments.

Basically there would be 2x youth soccer environments one BY and the other SY and they wouldn't play each other.

The Nov. meeting is only a token. It looks like MLSN and EA will not change, so I feel USSF will make an "apply all" recommendation instead of mandating so that the sanctioning body goes with either SY or BY. After the meeting, ECNL and E64, possibly GA/DPL, will go to SY, while MLSN and EA remain in BY.

It’s a done deal - pages ago someone said this isn’t a vote you put on the agenda without knowing the outcome. Just like the ECNL president podcast that continued to discuss it. Plus clubs are starting to hear news and preparations are beginning. As a parent of a trapped player - our club has already begun to discuss our plans for next year with us and how we want to proceed.

Yes, I said that several weeks ago. For such a big change, there is no way those major parties will not discuss and negotiate before the vote. The result is already reached among those few in power.

People think this "vote" is same as the presidential vote that the result can go either way after the voting process are naive. The outcome is already on the wall and based on the hint from ECNL podcast, DPL and Socal announcement, the change will come.
