Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

That's an odd thing to say. I know people who are Fortune 500 C-level and also very successful in PE from Radford. Like anything, results vary.
Don't know Jagels but he is articulate, compelling and has a vision for a next-generation school and educational model. Maybe he couldn't do it at Centreville but he seems to have the ability to do it here. The other admins were a special projects director and a curriculum director - both who spoke compellingly and they talked about the kind of teachers and admin they will be looking to bring in, and they are looking for experienced innovators. This school is not for everyone I'm sure, but it has huge potential in my view. Just sharing my perspective. |
It's just the reality. Some people are more obsessed with degrees from top schools than others, and a lot of Indian immigrants fall in that category. And when others hear "PE" and "Radford" in the same sentence they'll assume you're talking about physical education, not private equity. It sounds like it will be a decent school. No need to try so hard to oversell with references to "next-generation school" and "experienced innovators." Reid went off in that direction when she talked about making Western a "22nd century school," and it just came across as silly. |
| Leaders set the tone by talking about innovation. Change doesn't happen by hiding in a closet and never speaking of it. Listen to a speech by Jensen Huang for example - he talks about innovation, vision and transformation. It's leading not "overselling". If it sounds silly to you, it's probably not the right fit. Totally fair. |

Can somebody upload Option E and stop talking about this other superfluous stuff!
We cannot view them online. Third time I have requested it and nobody has posted a map. Who cares about Indian people. |
That is far from limited to immigrants. But, ultimately, that degree may be initially impressive, but a few years after school, your performance carries more weight--or, at least it should. I graduated from a state college and I feel like i received a good education. I'm surprised at some of the kids coming out of good schools today whose background of information is lacking. Ultimately, problem solving is key--whether it be in a scientific field or a "social" field. There are a lot of people who graduated from top schools who cannot solve problems. |
What is option E- the ones they are going with? That one is here https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/2026-01/Comprehensive%20Boundary%20Review%20Presentation%2001-08-2026%20FINAL%20for%20posting%20%282%29.pdf |
Reid talked about "transformation" when she was attending community meetings about the boundary study in late 2024, and we can see what happened there. |
No. FCPS released draft boundary options (Options A through D) for the western HS last fall: https://www.fcps.edu/system/files/forms/2025-10/western_high_school_options.pdf Some time after that someone posted an "Option E" on this forum. I don't think anyone ever confirmed whether it was a bootleg copy of something FCPS staff had worked on, or was just intended to look like an FCPS document. It was quite different from Options A and D - the main thing I remember is that it had more Chantilly kids moving directly to Western and a lot of Centreville kids moving to Chantilly rather than to Westfield. |
"Option E" was a map that was briefly posted here on DCUM. It placed Lees Corner into Western. There was some speculation that it was a "fake" and other speculation that it was a serious option designed to limit input from those affected. I am in the Chantilly boundary and it is a terrible idea. Lees Corner is one of the closest neighborhoods to Chantilly--along with Brookfield and Greenbriar West. It is across 50 from Chantilly, but other than that, it is walkable for many in boundary. Some can see Chantilly High from their houses. |
Once they're done rebuilding that place so it can fit 30 kids to a classroom it will be a little less impressive |
Were there numbers or no? I’m really starting to get tired of the trolling here. And it’s starting to make me think that there was no open house this month and that all reports of that are phony, just like Karl Frisch, Melanie Meren, and Sandy Anderson! |
I don't recall any numbers. As I recall, it was up for a very short time. It appeared to be designed in the same way as the others--I don't recall if they had the chart with it. |
Dp. To add, Reid has said that there may be another scenario in which neither Crossfield nor Foxmill are included. So it appears that there may be an Option E forthcoming. Whether the contents of that scenario will match the previously posted Option E is unclear. |
This is the website: https://fcpswesternboundary.org/ They shut it down once people started providing negative feedbacks (there was a feedback option). The layout and everything looked very similiar to Thru boundary site: https://www.fcpsboundaryreview.org/ Option E would empty out Westfield which would have only 61% enrollment. |
Just did a search. It was posted on this thread at 21:21 on Dec 9. By, 6 something on Dec 10 morning, it was down. |
