Kamala Harris Fashion Thread

I think a gorgeous suit is one of the sexiest things a woman can wear. I prefer Kamala’s style to Jill’s.

She wears LOTS of pantsuits, but manages not to attract any comments on them the way HRC did.

I think that's because her suits are more modern (fitted clean lines, one button jacket) and she wears real heels, not kitten heels or loafers. In contrast, Hillary's suits always seemed a bit boxy & old ladyish. FWIW I had no issue with the way Hillary dressed (and unfair we talk about women like this and not men) but that's just my take on the difference between the two.

Those suits are horrible on her. Skirt might have been better with the large hips.

Also, even in a suit, Harris seems more conventionally feminine. I think partly due to her shape, partly her figure, and partly subtle differences in style like fashionable heals vs. more utilitarian loafers and low heels.

This response sums up why I hate our stupid patriarchal misogynistic world so much

(Not saying you are, just saying that you are making true but sad points)

Yes! For some reason she insists on pant suits where length has to be added to cover hips, which makes all over proportion and look even worse. I also don't understand mandarin collar. It's probably to make those suits more timeless and not associated with any particular style. It's bad.

+1000 I don't think Jill does it well. Kamala hits it 90% of the time

Add to that the fact that HRC is 20 yrs older than Kamala--essentially old enough to be her mother. That doesn't help.

I’m with the suits. Jill’s dresses are too feminine for me.

Not fashion related but just wanna give a sincere shout out to Steve King of Iowa ... "Go f__k yourself you racist piece of shit."

I think they both dress well for their chosen careers. Jill dresses like a professor, and Kamala dresses like a lawyer/politician.

I saw this summed up perfectly about how insanely clueless to history this "gotcha!" trope he is trying to pull is. Nothing is more quintessentially black in America than being descended from slaves and slave owners- they raped with impunity.
Sorry back to fashion!

I agree its apples and oranges. She is much older, shorter and has a harder to fit figure- its just not a fair comparison.

she identifies as black

Yes. But she also identifies as south Asian. Don’t try to erase that part of her identity!

https://twitter.com/kamalaharris/status/1170422353735688200?s=21

Text from that tweet:

As a young girl, I'd often go on walks with my grandfather in India, who'd discuss how people should be treated equally—regardless of the circumstances of their birth.

My heritage is why I’m proud to launch our South Asians #ForThePeople community: action.kamalaharris.org/signup/org-con…

Being black is not an erasure. She identifies as black woman of Jamaican and Indian heritage, is that better?

That doesn't make sense. You can say she is a woman of Jamaican and Indian heritage.

It doesn’t matter whether it makes sense to you. People get to choose how they express or describe their identity.

+1. Wtf is wrong with naming your race? You’re insane.

You're erasing the fact that she's half Indian, which is something she talks about all the time.

My grandmother always said one drop of black blood always negates everything else. Still to this day..

Google says they are the same height. That said, they have different body shapes and styles.

Her hair is feminine but not distracting, she never wears busy prints, the colors are serious, and her jewelry is elegant and quality. Her clothes fit! It's basically the antithesis of the Trump women discussion.

I love this look. She looks ready to go to work, instead of the trump women who look like they're going to a fashion show.

I love the suit: the rounded collar and thick buttons and heavy texture. But I hate the necklace. It looks like something Wilma from The Flintstones wore.

You have no style. It's OK, Kamala has enough for the both of you.

She's been mocked mercilessly for having cankles, hence all the pantsuits and it has been ages since I've seen her in a skirt.
