Beauty and Fashion
True. She probably bought it few sizes too large for the occasion. |
Actually, it's an AKA thing (the black sorority that she belongs to). https://www.townandcountrymag.com/style/jewelry-and-watches/a33649683/kamala-harris-pearl-necklace-aka-sorority-significance/ |
I love this look. She looks ready to go to work, instead of the trump women who look like they're going to a fashion show. |
I love the suit: the rounded collar and thick buttons and heavy texture. But I hate the necklace. It looks like something Wilma from The Flintstones wore. |
WTF? Her mother's Indian, you really think she needs to wear a weave/wig? |
She has incredible style. She definitely looks like she is taking care of business in that suit while not losing her femininity. Love it. |
| My favorite "power" outfits are the ones where women don't try to conform to a men's suit framework, even if a feminized version. Jill Biden does this well. Kamala does not. |
| She is beautiful but this is the most boring thread ever... |
As someone who works in an office that requires business attire, I like seeing what she wears. It's not exciting and she isn't going to have hundreds of pages (kind of refreshing to think about), but it's real for me. |
I agree she doesn't need to wear one. BUT she definitely was wearing something that night. I'm 100% sure of this. |
I admire her ability to make collar-less blazers work. They look so frumpy on me.
She wears LOTS of pantsuits, but manages not to attract any comments on them the way HRC did.

I love the pic of her and Joe, so badass!!
I think that's because her suits are more modern (fitted clean lines, one button jacket) and she wears real heels, not kitten heels or loafers. In contrast, Hillary's suits always seemed a bit boxy & old ladyish. FWIW I had no issue with the way Hillary dressed (and unfair we talk about women like this and not men) but that's just my take on the difference between the two.

Those blazers are work-ready. |

HRC was hated on for being more interested in working than being feminine (remember the cookie thing?) and I think some of the hate towards her suits were a symptom of that underlying current.
Also, even in a suit, Harris seems more conventionally feminine. I think partly due to her shape, partly her figure, and partly subtle differences in style like fashionable heals vs. more utilitarian loafers and low heels. |
