A good plan long term for the Washington Spirit. Tough pill to swallow for current players who will now be part of great falls Reston.

It will not be Great Falls Reston. You are still clueless.

It does not matter how the name is called.
Like companies merger, the new name indicates a lot.
1: the Washington Spirit attachment is gone, for VA and for MD.
2: the purpose of the new team name is to make ppl believe it is different from GFR. well, the advanced program (DA) of the GFR is different from recreation/Travel part of GFR.

Sorry, you are wrong. You don't have the inside information others have. Whether or not it succeeds, the new entity is meant to break off onto its own with multi-club partnerships. GFR has no interest in running a DA, and the staff is completely separate from GFR.

The trolls are alive and well in this thread. GFR will be one of several partners of the new club, when the planned changes are fully implemented.

The trolls here are only half right, working on the correct information that Spirit was not interested in maintaining a DA.

What club would mortgage their own success to bail out george and Spencer?

Oh, a new term is created "multi-club partnerships" , what is the meaning of it exactly? Do you mean financially independent partnership? how do you decrease your club fee without infusion of the payment from the new players, who already paying for other clubs based on your "multi-club partnership"?

Please read the letter again..

*** For the Virginia DA, we have decided to transfer our slot to Metro United which will operate under the Great Falls Reston organizational structure which will include future partner
clubs. ***

It does not matter if GFR is interested in DA or not, it is getting a DA. And it is under the existing (GFR) organizational structure.

The only part of GFR that will be part of this is Rich Shelton and that is for fields only. Everyone else mentioned is part of WSVA not GFR management. Rado their TD has no interest in competitive teams he's a glorified rec coach.

And that doesn't matter from the perspective of how it's run. It's necessary to encumber the field space until MU can branch off on its own. The club will either succeed and branch off on its own or not. They are not counting on GFR long term for their success.....

He probably is interested in growing his club and not having some clowns come in and ruin it with their pipe dreams. You weren’t good enough as spirit. You’ll be worse as great falls. Good luck!

Funny how the sniping on this thread seemed to die down shortly after the announcement that FCV had been acquired by The St James and the press release talked about practices in Springfield. Coincidence?

Wonder if FCV saw this coming...

Great timing for the press release. Right in the middle of official tryouts.
