I wonder how they’ll cope. Will they not want the kids to see her in jail? Or will they expose them to prison waiting rooms? And will she try to claim some special circumstance to go to a “better” facility?

She was a fraud and corrupt individual for 15+ years you mean?

She deserves this sentencing - people died from falsified test results from her ‘invention’.

Hush if you don’t know what you’re talking about. NOBODY died. They couldn’t even find anyone who was physically harmed. The worst they were able to show at trial was that someone received a false negative pregnancy test and someone received bad blood work. That’s it. It really didn’t have major medical effects, only financial.

Thank god no one died from receiving a false negative diagnosis. But she knowingly drew blood from stage IV cancer victims for a false trial. Among other horrible fraudulent things. Feel sorry for her kids but totally irresponsible to bring children into this world. 11 years appropriate.

I think she’s a terrible person but it seemed t me that the people scammed by her were idiots. Also, there was a first degree rapist who worked up the street from me who only got 8 years. It just seems like our criminal justice system is very random.

Having been involved in the system I have been shocked to learn how little uniformity there is in sentencing/decisions made. A lot of it comes down to how the judge likes you/how they’re feeling that day.

That's a fairly low bar. Should we employ it everywhere?

Many Americans (including lots of DCUMs) think that blonde + blue eyes equals pretty.

“Theranos raised $945 million from an impressive list of investors, including media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Walmart's Walton family and the billionaire family of former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos“

Pissed off the wrong people. They can make sure that you get stuffed.

I've been wondering about this too. She must have a lot of charisma.

Her behavior probably drove one of the employees to suicide. But I guess there's no direction causation, so everything is just fine.

She got what she deserved. Good riddance. Too bad she produced kids to get her sentence reduced. Did not work. She ruined her body for nothing and her life for fraud.

This is oddly so accurate. My husband's ex wife comes to mind. Once she was a witch for Halloween and no one "recognized" her and a few people told her to keep the blonde (she was wearing a black wig) but all the costume and wig really did was highlight her bad features. She has terrible bone structure, a lot like Holmes actually. She's all bleach bottle blonde, curlers, eyeliner and hairspray. I don't get it at all, but at least I'll always have that to fall back on if I ever want to let myself go as I age.

Well don’t you sound like a lovely person

I find it sad. I think American prison sentences are too long across the board and this is another example of it. She’ll miss so much of her children’s lives because we are so retributive.

I think she is just a lying predator who found a perfect victim.

She stole almost a BILLION dollars through sheer lies and fraud.

WTH? Her children would be better off never knowing her.
